I understand the lure of a conference like the SEC and more money for television rights, but as a Mizzou fan since birth, I think it would be a mistake. The big 12 includes rivalries for MU that go back way too far and go too deep to leave them behind easily. How could they lose the guarantee of a Border "Showdown" with Kansas every year, echoing the very real war that happened between the two states in the 1800s? They have a lot of storied history with other teams in the former Big 8 and current big 12 (however many teams are in it today). It would be a real shame if they jump ship and I think it might well be the last nail in the conference's coffin.
