Is the Raiders' trading for QB Carson Palmer a good idea?

THE RAIDERS ARE ACTUALLY IN THE HUNT. NORMALLY I WOULD OF SAID THE SESSION WAS OVER, BUT PALMER KNOWS THE SYSTEM. OF THE ACTIVE QUARTERBACKS OUT THERE, HE MAYBE THE BEST CHOICE.
IF CAMBELL RETURNS, WILL THE RAIDERS BE IN THE HUNT? I DON'T THINK SO. IF THE RAIDERS WERE 2-4, THEN I GUESS THERE WAS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR, BUT THEY ARE NOT. THEY CAN TAKE THE DIVISION AND LOOK LIKE A TEAM THAT CAN GO ALL THE WAY. THAT BEING SAID, A QUARTERBACK IS NEEDED AND PALMER IS THE BEST CHOICE. HE WANTED OUT OF CINCI., AND NOW HE CAN PROVE HIMSELF.

I think the raiders gave up way too much for palmer. It may work out and get them to the play offs this year but the future will be dim.
The bengals have drafted well the last few years and if this trend continues they will be a very young and deep team in a few years.

Wow, as a fellow Angelino I am shocked that the majority of you voted that it is a good deal for the Raiders. The Raiders have mortgaged their next 2 years in the hopes that Carson Palmer is the second coming of Rich Gannon. If the Raiders were 1 QB away from a Super Bowl berth, meaning the defense was top notch, then Yes, this would of been worth it. The Raiders are still an unfinished product. As a fellow Raider fan I am embarrassed to live in city with such dimwitted football fans (most, not all of you - I'm looking at you people sporting the Raider Jerseys and knowing anything about Raider history). Keep in mind with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, 1st Round Draft picks are no longer a double edge sword due to the rookie compensation scale. You Angelinos are idiots, no wonder we don't deserve an NFL team...

The Raiders did give up alot for Carson Palmer, but their had to do it. With Jason Campbell out forever how long, Kyle Boller and Pryor are not the answer for the Raiders, so their had know choice. This was a good pickup. Hue Jackson wants to win now and he doesn't want to wait until next season.

I believe the Raiders have the coach that there have been looking for in Jackson. He wants to get the Raiders back to the glory days and he will successed.

I dont think Al Davis makes this move. Al loved his draft picks but he also liked building the Raiders on cast offs from other teams if he liked them. I dont think he would have given up so much to get Carson. It is a huge mistake as Carson is so injury prone and will not make it through this regular season, he will get injured and Boller will come in anyway. I like the idea of turning it over to Pryor and lets see what happens. The Raiders should keep building through the draft and they have some good picks coming up next year. Dont buy fools gold in Carson Palmer he is done as a NFL QB. Anybody know Brett Favre's cell number because I'd go that route before the Carson Palmer route.

it is a good trade campbell is not that good and at the end if his contract we need a QB that can help hone pryors skills and palmer can do that. I would have rather seen Mcnabb but palmer will step up and win thats what we need

High price to pay, but Raiders are proving to fans they won't give up on potential playoff season, which have been very rare lately. Have all the pieces to make a run, except at QB with this injury, but have got back now by picking up Palmer. Palmer throws a lot of INT's but overall good QB. The QB must be traded for and traded for hard!

Love the deal because it's terrific for the Bengals.

Bad move - giving up too much for a guy who isn't mobile and hasn't had a decent year in awhile. But, it's fine with me 'cause I can't stand the Raiders.

The price is high..but worth it. Campbell is gone after this year as unrestricted free agent. The Raiders will pick up some draft choices for starters lost to Seahawks and Eagles. Palmer is better now than Rich Gannon was when the Raiders went to the Super Bowl.

I love the idea of getting Palmer,, but that price is too high considering the need for the draft picks to shore up other areas of weakness. Give up Prior and one pick and i am good with it. As a Raider and USC fan that would make my day. But even with Palmer Raiders arent super bowl material yet. Save the pics unless the Bengals get more reasonable.

Way to go... Al would have done the same thing. Keep up the Raider Nation Work... talk with John Madden often... give him an office... Carson Palmer will hit the ground running... I started with the Raiders, watching games, standing in the mid at Frank Youell Field... saw Al come in and the rest is history... We need some more Raider History...

Of course.. it's a no brainer. Jason Campbell will likely miss the rest of the season. Palmer is a proven QB with a high NFL IQ. The Raiders want to win now and getting him will only keep them in the playoff hunt. Love Boller, but he is strictly a back up.
GET THE FORMER HEISMAN WINNER NOW!!!!!
