Do you ever donate money, food, or clothing to the Homeless?

After being homeless in Santa Rosa on and off for a couple of years by choice, I realized how easy it is to stay fed without spending a dime. I drop off leftovers sometimes, but I don't give away cash anymore.

Because I prefer not to donate cash, lately, I've taken to carrying granola bars with me so that I can give them to folks on the streets who have signs asking for food. I also ask them if they are aware of local services that feed people who are un-housed & give them that info if they need it.

Additionally, I created a nonprofit organization which has volunteers who knit & crochet handmade hats & scarves that we donate to shelters for families who are homeless and survivors of domestic violence http://www.commongroundworldwide.org/EARTH-ANGELS.html We also have a "Books-4-Shelters" project: http://www.commongroundworldwide.org/BOOKS-4-SHELTERS.html
