Until the jurors' behavior is evaluated and the risk of a mistrial has been decided, he should be on a SUPERVISED monitor system.

Karl Thompson is 64 years old. He is looking at an 8 to 10 year sentence.

These may be the last holidays he spends at home with his wife (*divorced) and friends before he dies in prison.

The criminal justice system is often cruel. We should not begrudge an act of mercy.

It is likely that the judge would not act so mercifully to you or me. You and I would not be given a last chance to spend holidays with our loved ones. And, of course, Otto Zehm will not be spending his holidays at home. But still, we should all be somewhat astonished, and somewhat grateful, that this cruel, criminal system is capable of any mercy.
