Did you know anything at all about Eddie Sachs, other than his fiery crash in 1964?

Yes. I knew everything you covered and more. He was a great driver.

I knew a few things but was glad to get to learn more.

No. All I knew was his name from that fiery crash I've seen on You Tube.

I've never even heard of Eddie Sachs.

Who cares? This was almost fifty years ago. Talk about something current.

I rode back from

I rode back from Oklahoma city with Eddie and Charlie Engle. In those days the car was on a trailer behind a sedan delivery . I was sitting on the tools and extra parts in the back. The conversation I heard was at least interesting. Eddie was a normal guy and a friend. While waiting for the payout at Okie city he asked me for a smoke. I gave him one and he laughted and said "all us race drivers smoke camels."
