I seen one in Sudbury. So I know for a fact there are cougars in at least the southern edge of Northern Ontario.

My partner and a fishing friend spotted a large cougar drinking near the sand beach on Buzzard Lake, a portage lake from the west end of Eagle Lake in Vermilion Bay on July 2, 2013.

I saw a cougar on route from Thunderbay to Shiningtree west of Timmins. It ran straight across the highway right in front of me, I believe it was in November the year was 1987.
