Was it 'dumb' to invade Iraq in 2003?

We spent billions that could have been used to save millions of mom and pops' homes from the foreclosure process. We let thousands of our men and women die in the desert, all to establish a strong anchor in this volatile region. Perhaps the question is not so much whether we did or did not succeed in Iraq, but rather, whether those billions should have been spent at home rather than abroad. It's our thinking. It's all wrong.

The U.S. did accomplish it's mission to knock over a third world economy country in the Mideast wherein we could establish permanent military bases in that region. We needed a country that we didn't need their permission to expand our military presence in. Germany, Ireland, Saudi Arabia and other countries have been more and more reluctant ( and expensive) to have U.S. Military bases situated in them. We "leave" hahaha, Iraq with 14 PERMANENT U.S. Military bases able to launch an attacks in the Mideast and stockpile weapons. Along with our largest U.S. Embassy in the world with a permanent staff of 2,000. We built this right after we gained control if thei country and before they, the conquered Iraqui's had the right to vote.

For those pursuing invasion (ie. the Bush Administration and Corporate investors with military interests) it has been a huge financial success!
For the naive American 99% it has been a disaster, one which has devastated the middle class. Those in charge of commandeering the policy were completely correct in their endeavor. They achieved their goal.
