Purchased today for $159.00 before taxes at OffixMax who is having a 20% off sale for anything you can fit in a brown paper shopping bag.
I bought the Kindle Fire and considered returning it (so many negatives) but eventually decided to keep it as a fun toy. After rooting it, jailbreaking it (full market) and overjailbreaking it (mobilism market), it got kinda cool.
We bought a Kindle Fire, and returned it 2 days later. It doesn't compare to the iPad in any sense except for serving as an eBook reader. Waiting for iPad 3..........
