Should there be a rating system for books like there is for movies?

i say yes (sort of) not so much for a restictive rating system but i would like to see more info added to a book description. author or publisher driven that at least warns of possible objectionable content be it of a violent or sexual manner.
i hate becoming attached to an enjoyable book only to come up against a graphic description the i would prefer to not deal with.
compare if you will "romantic" movies from the 1950's and now...

No ratings! Books have been around for millennia without the need for prudes to tell us what we can and can't read. As far as protecting the children from hearing about sex, it's too late. Sex is the most interesting thing out there when you're an adolescent. They're already paying attention. Mainly, though, I want the would-be censors to keep their hands off the books! (Rant now complete.)

I am very concerned about the sexually explicit language I've found in some of the books that are on the kids/young teens side of Amazon's kindle books. I was lucky enenough to find the comment "pornographic" added in one of the reviews before my 1313 year old granddaughter purchased a book on a gift card she got for Christmas. I bought it and read it with the idea that I would give it to her if it was appropriate. It wasn't. I was shocked!

I think it would be a wise thing to do. I was browsing through the books available forthe lending library and was surprise to see the very explicit books only a click away.
