I love my Fire, but it does not replace my K3. In the arctic it is dark for most of the day. I use the Fire for reading in low light, then switch to the K3 when the light is better. My son(11) prefers the Fire to his iPad! !!

I use a regular keyboard kindle for my books and the fire for videos and apps. I use my Ipad for long connections to the internet but I use the fire for quick web searching. When I travel I carry the fire and my keyboard kindle. Ipad is too heavy.

I was an early adopter, being crazy enough to pay $300+ for the K1 and waiting 8 weeks to get it. I bought the K2 as soon as it was available. So I bought both a Kindle Touch and Fire as soon as the press conference was over. I have always loved e-ink devices and only used my Ipad1 for the Internet, not reading. But now I rarely use my Touch for anything - I use my Fire for videos (flash!), the Internet and 100% of my e-book reading. I like the back lit screen and the size of the device. But summer reading on the beach or outside will make me switch back to my Touch.

I continue to use my Kindle Keyboard as (named Kindela) my primary ereader. I am comfortable using my Fire for reading, but I prefer my K3. I don't find the backlighting uncomfortable for reading, especially for less than an hour; I think that's because there is amuch smaller area of "bright space" than on the iPad.

I generally use one of my two RSK's for reading. I do LOVE reading graphic novels (comic books, if you will) on the Fire though.
