    Larry, that's great to hear!

Now, we just have to get you using Docs... ;)

Seriously, you are clearly taking advantage of the device. I've had every Kindle except the Kindle DX so far. I do end up reading on the Fire sometimes, because I have it with me at work. I also use a Kindle Touch and a Kindle (the $79/$109 model I call a Mindle).

KLM, I appreciate that comment! I generally find I have wi-fi access when I want to use the web...but I am in the relatively techie San Francisco Bay Area. Do you ever find yourself bumping up against the lack of 3G?

Lee, I find the option Amazon gives us to install apps from "unknown sources" works fine. I haven't written about this yet, but I have used it now...it was a snap. For the casual user (which you clearly aren't :) ), I like that they vet and test the Amazon Appstore products. Then, they let folks go somewhere else if they want to take the risk...that makes sense to me.

I prefer a desktop that is more Ipad-like so I sideloaded Icecream as soon as I could figure out how. I only use the carousel to read. So I rarely use the Silk browser - I use the Dolphin browser which has more features. I was going to root my Fire so I could use the Android App store but the latest upgrade has blocked that path for now.

I sure hope Amazon gets their act together and gives people some options!

Wow! The combination of Amazon's Silk browser and the touch controls make my Kindle Fire (named Kandle) a great portable web access device.

My Kindle Fire is my 3rd Kindle, after a 2nd and a 3rd generation. I found ILMK weeks after receiving my first Kindle, and have followed it regularly (after subscribing and dropping several other Kindle blogs). I bought my Fire before it was even released.

I regularly use every function of the Fire (except for Docs). I haven't used it to write notes, etc. I use most of the functions virtually every day. My wife uses the 2nd gen for reading only. She's an avid reader, but never touches any other function.

    Thanks for the wealth of
