Steven is good no matter what he sings or how he sings it. He is the man-the Mac-Daddy man.

"Who's"? Like the singers, I guess no one is perfect.

I missed the original broadcast, and after all the hype, I listened expecting the worst. It was good. I don't know what all the fuss is about. I am not a fan of Steven Tyler's singing in general, but I think he did a better job than Victor's daughter (LOL), and probably better than all the haters could do.
Critics just need to shut it!

whoever said it had to be sung in perfect pitch pefect wording damn dnt people have something btr to do thn bitch bout other people. if you ur self cant or dnt sing shut the hell up.

I was surprised when I went back and listened carefully. Tyler's performance was an acceptable interpretation of the piece with good pitch and tone control. His voice is somewhat better than a can opener, but that's the instrument he's got and he uses it skillfully. In context, it was reasonably dignified and respectful. Perhaps not the best, but hardly the worst performance ever. He did well.

Stevie Ray Vaughn destroyed it at an Astro's game. And Slash had horrendous tone at a Dodger game. But unlike Stevie, he did play the notes right. Rock and roll just doesn't work for this song.

Steven Tyler sang as Steven Tyler sings...geez what did people expect..he is a rocker and sang like a rocker. When they had Rosanne Barr sing what did they expect she is a comic and sang like a comic. If people want it sung as a pretty little ditty than get an opera singer.

    Steven you Rock

Steven Tyler's performance of the National Anthem sounded like it was sung by one of the greatest vocalist in Rock history... OH WAIT.. IT WAS!

He sang it in a respectful traditional format. He didn't do ridiculous runs, or forget the words, and he sound like himself. Who should he sounded like? Pavarotti? Seriously!

I really dont see what is wrong with steven tylers version of the anthem. at least he knew the damn words!

Probably will never do it again! We live and learn!
As far as a "grand performance"..... Bahahaha, that sucked like
    a $10.00 hooker!!!
    GET OVER IT!!!!

  • Debbi - 12 years ago

Steven was as many have already being Steven!! That IS how he sings it was remarkable! If they didn't want Steven Tyler they wouldn't have asked him to do it... but they did.... so get over it! Not everything has be country and tearjerky to be qualified as a grande performance and THIS was one!

    Victor, your an idiot.

  • Jon - 12 years ago

Steven did a fantastic job yesterday! That's who he is & how he sings. Thank you Steven! The typical critic is typically an idiot.

never thought I would comment on a football game but WTF!!!! do these idiots never listen to Aerosmith????????? you get Steven Tyler to sing you know how he sings ( he friggin rocked it) WTF ya bichin about?

I thought Steven Tyler performed in a true Steven Tyler fashion.....I wouldn't expect anything else. As far as messing up one little word, he is human. Roseanne's performance was simply DISRESPECTFUL to the song, what it stands for and to us as American's. The other's admitted or showed dignity by their expressions that they screwed up.....she simply laughed and thought it was funny. She is definitely the worse ever. Not quite sure how Steven's performance is worse that Carl Lewis.

OK, but it is not the Star Spanger Banner. Just so you know.

I think Steven's performance was good -- typical Steven Tyler. What did they expect -- him to sing like someone else? He's a rocker and sings like a rocker. I also don't think Christina Aguilera should have been crucified for messing up the words -- she is only human and humans occasionally make mistakes. She is an amazing singer.

I think it was vintage Steven Tyler singing the National Anthem. His performance wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. He didn't do any worse then say if Andrea Bocelli attempted to sing Dude Looks Like A Lady, or Celine Dion singing Love In An Elevator. Everyone has their forte'. I commend Steven for doing this song. God Bless America and Steven Tyler.

  • Jessica - 12 years ago

I thought it was pretty good! At least he remembered all of the words!

  • Paula Huntress - 12 years ago

Steven Tyler is AMAZING!!! His performance was AWESOME!!! He sang it the way his fans would have absolutely expected him too. If he didnt perform it as Steven Tyler would then WHY would his fans want to hear it???? If thats not what the CRITICS (who id love to hear sing it even half as good as Steven) expected to hear then Steven Tyler shuldnt have been asked to sing it. The man is phenominal and a legend why do people want to slam him???Its completely ridiculous. Your AMAZING STEVEN!!!! YOU ROCKED IT!!!!! F ALL U HATERS!!!!! XOXOXO

  • Denise - 12 years ago

I think he did just fine. At least he remembered the words, unlike some others I could name. Just remember people, when you get a 60 something hard rocker with a graveley voice it's not going to sound like opera! Everyone should know what he sounds like from Areosmith. Did you really think he would sound diffrently just because he was singing the National Anthem with no music?

  • Victor - 12 years ago

Yesterdays Performance was REVOLTING. Bob Kraft should appoligze to the American Public
for permitting Steven Tyler to Utter that display on national TV. If you can't find some one to put some class into the show, Maybe you should visit South Bend or Fort Wayne , Indiana And see how they perform it the proper way @ minor league base ball games.

Jessica Ludwig is my Daughter and has performed several times @ games and other venues
