Sorry warmongers... the USA can't afford it. Imagine going to war with a country of more than double the population of Iraq and a topography similar to Afganistan. Almost $4 trillion so far in both of those wars. Even though it is in Americas' long term interest for there to be more countries in Eurasia, none of which with the capability to singularily dominate the others, it is more so in its own interest to keep the oil flowing. The best bet is to help build up Turkeys' influence in Syria and Lebanon. Also, an alliance between the new Egypt and Jordan would help counterract Persian influence in the region.

Let's give Sean credit for a well-articulated and thoughtful analysis of this complex geopolitical chess match.

Why can't we have polls on: "Should the US stop thinking about war and start thinking: how can we live without attacking others"?
Think about what we need: peace, not what we already have: war

Why Israel is so insistent on atacking Iran? The mantra of Iran wiping Israel off the map is repeated again and again to gain sympathies of the world. She is crying foul being at the mercy of Iranian nukes which Iran doesn't have to start with. In fact, Israel and her sympathisers know this very well that Israel is not a chicken.....it has all the nukes and fire power needed not only to wipe Iran off the map but the entire Middle-East and beyond. Plus, if Israel needed more nukes and fire power then she will get them more from her best friend USA and other European nations.

The politics of all this war-mongering seems to be pretty simple: 1. Israel wish to stay powerful bully infintely in the middle-East so she can get or do whatever pleases her, 2. To avoid Middle-East peace talk hence denying Palestinian their homeland (and live in peace with her neighbour), 3. Sunni Arab countries fear of Iranian domination which is unfounded and, in fact, encouraging outside powers to intervene in their internal matters. They should resolve themselves instead inviting outside powers......so they can be divided and get ruled by them.

Iran never attacked any country and will not do so even if she got their nukes! Iran is simply scared and is put into the corner at the moment! She is surrounded by hostile countries all around. Give this country a break and let her prove that Iran is not run by "mad mullahs" but real civilzed people who care for humanity as much as others do.

If every one is so concerned about Iranian nukes then should ask Israel and her other neighbours to relinguish their nukes too! I am told thousands of time by the western leaders and media that "Pakistan is the most dangerous country in the world" even though she never used nukes on any country or passed on their nukes to any terrorists either.......so what is the fuss here?

I am not a sympathizer of Iran nor I hate Israel but I hate to see people encouraging war and destruction..........I believe that Israel has as much right to exist and its people live in peace as any country in the world. So please live and let live people in peace.....war is bad....just talk and listen to each other.

Why Israeil is so furious about Iran nuc while this would be the best issue they never care any about peace talk with Palestinian ?? now hammas moved from Syria to saudi side still there is no signe Isreili to pay any attention ?? this is best chance for Israeili to involve with Iran and
get attention of world from real issue isn,t that great ????

Even though Israel itself has huge war heads and other nuclear weapons, it objects Iran becoming a nuclear state. there is still no proof that Iran really has the potential to produce nuclear weapons.
If Israel really doesn't want nuclear weapon production, it should first dispose the weapons it has, and then order others not to produce the weapons...

Not again . Stop beating war drums . Americans have paid enough for this ...this will put our economy already in trash can down lower.

Attacking Iran is very dangerous . There are so many unpredicted elements in it that could draw the world to WWIII. Even though WWIII is avoided there will be limited achievements and even in long term could get them sympathy they need to become a real nuclear threat. Don't attack Iran.

  • Roe Helm - 12 years ago

We should not do a direct strike on Iran unless they have launched any missiles at a friendly country. We should wait until there is a direct act of war or risk being a villain in the eyes of the rest of the world. Not that we are not seen as that already by many middle eastern countries. People tend to get very nationalistic when they are attacked and that would only give strength to the government in power now.
