The portrayal of Sarah Palin in HBO's 'Game Change' was...

Wow. This is just my opinion but if Sarah Palin really cared about the future of the country she would have been honest with the McCain campaign from the get go, or atleast when they were giving her forgein policy lessons she would have said to herself "You know what I'm in WAY over my head here, maybe it's not such a great idea for me to continue with this." If she loved her country she would want the best person possible to run it. But that's not the case, first off she NEVER should have been put in the position she was, that's not her fault. But she was hungry for both power and the lime light. How do you seriously grow up in this country, go to public school, and not know some of the basic of world politics? Like the Queen not running the Government in Great Brittian. Or that Sadam Hussein attacked us on 9/11. I think the danger here is clearly shown that Palin and other right wing conservatives wall them selves up in a bubble and swallowed all the fear that George Bush, Dick Cheney, and the crew tried to sell the American people. Sarah Palin is NOT a Patriot, Patriots don't attempt to put thier countries in such grave circumstances for their own self validation.

Please. People don't fear Sarah Palin. They fear the large numbers of people who supported her in spite of clear, sad evidence of her incompetence to serve this country. The fact that she generated any momentum whatsoever for the Republican party is the really horrific thought... and reveals how low our standards really are for our political leadership. (By the way, "KittyKane," the Vice President does, in fact, require credentials to succeed to the presidency should the President die or become incapacitated... not a far cry for a 77-year old candidate at the time... again, it would be good to aspire to educated political opinions!)

It would be nice, for once, to have a government run by truly kind, generous, selfless people who are not lured into the public eye to stroke their narcissistic urges but instead to serve others and to promote the best interests of our country, state, and people (whatever party they represent). And it would be nice, for once, to have a nation of people interested in putting forth the truly brightest, intelligent, independent and well-meaning individuals instead of those who cheaply, whorishly cater to our basest, most vile fears. Everyone who has ever voted in line with any party has been guilty of falling for the sound bites that tell us what we want to hear, without engaging in any analysis or critical thinking on our own. The truth still stands that Palin practically made out with herself while stirring up anti-Muslim, racist and far right insecurities. She did it - I believe - not even because she believed these things, but because they caused people to cheer for her and chant her name. She did it because it kept her from having to actually engage in discourse over policy questions. She did it because it increased her chances of winning.

The only fact from "Game Change" I really needed confirmed was that Nicolle Wallace chose NOT TO VOTE for McCain, though she was clearly a committed Republican and a senior adviser to the McCain team. These political professionals actually really have well-reasoned, studied beliefs and have come to their positions after years of hard work, research and analysis, and because of their long-standing dedication and loyalty. That Wallace would actually relinquish her constitutional right to vote because of the Palin experience is enough truth for me.

I love how all the right wingers/Palin apologists yell about distortion and the fact that liberals are afraid of Sarah Palin. I've got news for you, Palin lovers ... most of the dialogue that truly puts the half-term Governor of Alaska in a bad light is documented. She did say that she had foreign policy experience because you can see Russia from Alaska and that the Russians had to fly over Alaskan airspace to reach the U.S. She didn't know why North and South Korea were two separate countries. And she did flub the Katie Couric "gotcha" question "what do you read?" The movie even went soft on Palin when, during the part about Todd Palin's membership in the Alaskan Independence Party (whose founder often spoke about how much he hated America -- talk about "palling around with terrorists), it neglected to mention that she videotaped a greeting for the AIP Convention as Governor. And let's not forget the numerous "Sarah being Sarah" moments since 2008 like her claim that Paul Revere's Ride was to warn the British not to mess with our 2nd Amendment rights (despite the fact, of course, that the 2nd Amendment hadn't even been written). Sarah Palin was clearly unqualified to even be Governor of Alaska, let alone Vice President.

As far as liberals being afriad of Sarah Palin, I have to answer an emphatic "you're right." Anyone who has that much charisma while being that ignorant and filled with hate is dangerous. She is a polarizing figure who richly deserves the scorn shown her from the left. How is somone who calls rural and small town American the "real Americans" supposed to represent all Americans? Sorry to break it to you backwards knuckle-draggers, but there are actually people who work hard, raise families, and love their country in suburban and urban areas of America. Sarah Palin's vicous and divisive rhetoric is the same kind of borderline hatespeech practiced by Father Coughlin, Joe McCarthy, and Richard Nixon. It was corrosive and damaging to our democracy then and it's just as bad coming out of Sarah Palin's mouth. When you Palin apologists spew out about the supposed "hatred" expressed by liberals towards the Divine Sarah, you really should read all of the nasty, mean, hateful, and spiteful things your idol has said over the years. If you can read and listen to her rantings and not be shocked at just how ignorant, angry, and arrogant she is, then your view of the world is just as warped as Sarah Palin's.

John Lennon's song Nowhere Man sums up Sarah Palin perfectly:

"He's as blind as he can be, just sees what he wants to see ..."

Change the subject's sex and you've got Sarah Palin in a nutshell.

Please, get over it already. You are fearing the wrong person. You should fear the people who have never been able to let this go. They should spend their time and money trying to do something worth doing. I wouldn't waist my time to watch it no matter what side I was on. Please move on. Let's do a movie about the guy who wrote this movie.

People feel the need to say that they can't imagine Sarah Palin being our President. For one thing she never ran for the Presidency of our great country. She was Cain's running mate. HE was running for the Presidency - and a wonderful President he would have made for our country if people were not so narrow minded about his running mate. Did somebody not pay attention during the 2008 campaign to know this. Look what we ended up with - a person who didn't know anything about Presidential politics and chose Biden as his running partner who is always making vaupes on a regular basis himself. Or is somebody still not paying attention. I am not a Republican but I am a woman and I loved her openness and honesty. It was like a breath of fresh air. I was just wondering. How is the "change" thing working for everybody. By the way - Obama never did tell us before he was elected just what kind of "change" he had in mind and do we like it or are we still wondering what his "change" really is...

It would be very interesting to view the IQ's of the various people who have commented on
this movie and the makers of this movie, the IQ of Sarah Palin, Barack Obama, and all of those
who serve us in the US Senate and House of Representatives. I will volunteer my info from
my entry exam into the military. I showed an IQ at the time of 147. Will the others here in
this forum please display theirs and find out what Barack Obama's IQ is compared to that of
John McCain and Sarah Palin. Lets get past the bull here and get down to the facts folks.

    Next!

  • G D Bryan - 12 years ago

Anything by the hollywood idiots is either left leaning or basically bull and that includes
mainstream republicans who are about the same as democrats socially except they are
anti union. Don't expect too much from anyone except Palin when it comes to fixing the
high gas prices in the US. We will continue to export more refined fuel than we import and
there will be a created shortage by either republicans or democrats. We need someone who
is like Sarah Palin to win the presidential election and half the senate and house seats as well,
or we don't get much help from Washington DC.

As for the movie: "Can anything good come from Hollywood?"

  • H.Pence - 12 years ago

I felt the movie was mostly a bunch of falsehoods based on two of McCains aides(more than likely Wallace and Schmidt who hated her because she wouldnt obey them). The left despise Palin and they always will. The view her as a threat to their way of life(which is more than likely a moraless one). I dont know how many times I see people write or hear people say PALIN IS FINSHED, SHE IS DONE..Well if that be the case then why are SO MANY ON THE LEFT still talking about her. I will tell you why cause in their hearts and shaking shoes they know she has just begun :)

  • Nikki B. - 12 years ago

I am a liberal and was anxious to watch this movie. I was especially interested that it was written by 2 of McCain's closest aids. I was prepared to be able to righteously judge Sarah Palin as hostile, unprepared, egotistical, etc. While that was shown in the movie, I was surprised to feel great empathy and understanding of how difficult this situation must have been for her. Her kindness and empathy for special needs children; her reactions after talking with her son on the phone, and her wish to be at home with her baby, showed me a side I'd never seen before. I completely believe it would have been disastrous to have her as president, but I'm not sure she can be blamed for being put in a situation which she had no way of knowing would be as difficult as it was.

I don't enjoy movies that show us the meltdown of prominent people when they are still alive. Give us enough credit to realize that this woman was not qualified to be Vice President. The last thing she needs is more publicity, good or bad.

Another sad part is that all of this attention might keep good qualified women from coming forward to run. We know they are out there. We have always had to prove ourselves more and be better as other former minorities have. Enough.

  • Donna - 12 years ago

I know that Hollywood dramatizes things for the movies, but if they protrayed Sarah Palin accurately, how can anyone, and I mean anyone think that this woman is capable of being the President of the United States, not to mention Commander in Chief of the U.S. military??? You are all dillusional if you think she can.

  • Sam - 12 years ago

Totally based on UNtruths. McCain, Palin, staff actually there substantiate this is a ludicrous perspective. Anyone who has even slightly reviewed the record of Gov Palin knows this movie is nothing more than a politically motivated distortion and fabrication.

  • Blue Notes - 12 years ago

Ms. Palin is not running for any office yet the Left is still so afraid of her they have to manufacture fairy tales in order to make themselves feel better??? What happened to civility? Wasn't that what the GREAT ONE lectured us about? Only the Kook-Aid drinkers believe this crap. Enough already. This is a prime example of the dumbing down of America!

  • frank - 12 years ago

The film comfirmed my opinion that she was not too bright. At least she could memorize copy.

  • Joan - 12 years ago

And there's Seth, keeping the hate coming and making my point for me.

  • Seth - 12 years ago

When Matt Damon made the statement that Sarah Palin running for President was like a bad Disney movie, he revealed the true disdain that most liberals feel for their fellow Americans. For these elites, the ruling class is about breeding and ivy league privilege, overseeing the dependent, entitled masses. They say they care about regular Americans, but when it comes to statements like these, you can see that, in fact, they are embarrassed to be considered among them.

  • Joan - 12 years ago

Sarah Palin is definitely a threat. She takes policy issues and twists them until she finds the culture war within. She then uses those divisive stands to make one group of Americans hate another group of Americans. All you have to do is watch the video of her rallies to see the cries of "Muslim!" and "terrorist!" to be afraid.

If I'm a "typical liberal" because I'm afraid of demagoguery, then I'm proud of the title. Look at all the hate in just the few comments here?

  • Cavyr - 12 years ago

It's hard to believe that the anti-American liberals are so jealous of Sarah that they can turn to such hatred. I'm not sure what they are afraid of, but they do display that fear all the time.
I thank God that we have real Americans like Sarah Palin.

  • Linda McKinstry - 12 years ago

Julianne Moore should get the Emmy for her performance in the Game Change. When they flashed back to Tina Fey on SNL it became all to apparent how Julianne just nailed the character of Sarah Palin blowing Tina right out of the water. I though Sarah was an idiot then and this movie just confirms my thoughts. You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. Enough said.............

  • Bill - 12 years ago

Nothing interesting or factual and demonstrates the fear Liberals have for Sarah. Way to go Hollywood, the lib i diots are making Sarah millions and she's laughing all the way to the bank.

  • Syamala - 12 years ago

There is nothing wrong in not knowing anything but thinking you could be President of United States with holes in knowledge is fatal. John Mcain thought all women are stupid and that is their biggest flaw. Republicans are doing it again. They are underestimating women's intelligence. They thought pretty woman who can talk well could fool the world. Every action has its consequences. Now she and the Republican Party are facing public humiliation

  • A Davis - 12 years ago

I believe that this was a complete attack piece on Sarah Palin to "kill" her political influence!
There are domestic enemies of America that have been lying to us for decades, and they can't stand a strong, successful, beatiful, wife and mother, seeking to help her fellow americans!
Shame on the producers for their hatred and character assasination of a great american.

  • Ron - 12 years ago

    K. Hale, why is it people like YOU blame liberals and the media when you see/read/hear something YOU don't like? Could the fact be she's mental? Those stories were coming out way before the book or movie. Stop smoking so much weed you're paranoid

  • batmanuel - 12 years ago

    Sarah Palin is an idiot

  • Carmen Martinez - 12 years ago

I could not waste my time wathching the movie, only saw the previews. It only confirms my suspicions that Sarah Palin is a threat to those who do not share her views, otherwise why would they spend so much time and effort in portraying her in such a negative way. She must be on to something. On a personal level I think she is a role model that many women (including tina fey) should look up to. Go Sarah!!

  • K. Hale - 12 years ago

Typical Liberal falsehood characterization of a Conservative woman...so overdone and ridiculous. It may have been true to the book...but that says little because the book was a hatchet job in the first place. The liberal hack "journalists" that wrote it are dyed in the wool liberals...what else would you expect
