Which team would be the best fit for Peyton Manning?

These team work outs are just a formality Denver was the top choice untill Tennessee came knocking then we were just waiting on the press confrence from baptist sports park introducing our new qb, then time keeped ticking away and i didnt understand why he was waiting so long THEN the reports started coming in about the 49ers being in the mix. Now im worried cause that team was a beast last year and really dont need Peyton manning but yet here they are...... well just to ease the minds of some people the Denver Broncos have NO shot none period, the Tennessee Titans are the front runners and should be for lots of reasons, BUT the San fransisco 49ers can win now with or with out Peyton, so the question is does he want win with or with out them. The choice is clearly between the Titans and the 49ers. Peyton being a down home kind of guy advantage ----- Titans

49ers gives Manning the best chance to get a SB ring immediately. They have a lot of talent. A grind out RB in gore. A good receiving core in Crabtree and Moss. An awesome TE in Vernon Davis. All 11 starters on Defense are returning. If Manning goes to SF and he clicks with the rest of the offense they'll win a SB. Maybe even 2.

Eagles. Don't be surprised when he's supporting eagles green. If you think about it, it's a good fit. Andy needs to save his job, he'll step down a little, good offensive line, great run game, desean is signed, maclin as another option, sign Reggie Wayne for a year, Brent celek as your tight end, a defense that began to flow much smoother on the later half of the season. They sure up the LB position with a good linebacker, pick up a safety, let Asomugha and DRC do their thing, and the d is set. Trade Vick for a 2nd or 3rd rounder eat a bit of the contract and you win the Super Bowl. You play against your brother 2 times a year at least, oh and did I forget to mention you have a guy coaching for you that you spent your best years with. And with the way the eagles make moves now, don't count it out, I don't care what Andy says.

Houston has a good qb in schaub, Alex smith is the boy scout at San Fran, Tennessee Arizona both suck. Peyton's not doing this for a paycheck. He's doing it for another championship. If he wanted a paycheck he would coach. He doesn't need money, he wants another ring. His best chance is with the eagles.

Sorry to say it, but it's true.

  • Coondog - 12 years ago

Peyton should offer his services for free, to the NY Giants, for no other reason than to screw with his brother!!! Eli needs a good attitude adjustment.

    Indy....Go back to indy...

I think AZ would make a great fit because manning wants to play in a dome with weather that older people like and doesn't get Hollywood type of attention. Andre Roberts is emerging to be a pretty good receiver especially with the type of QB's that AZ had this past season. Plus, Peyton has always been a pass first Quarterback, so Ken Whisenhunt would let Peyton run the offense his way and he has a great history of coaching veteran QB's. Skelton can learn something from Manning and Kolb might end up getting cut from the cards if Arizona signs Manning. AZ also has an improving running game with 2 good TE's in Heap & King that can be great, and a Ray Horton D-fense that is going to end up being a top 5 or top 10 pretty soon anyways. Arizona is just 1 player away from winning the big prize. No disrespect to Kurt Warner but Manning is 10 times better. If Kurt Warner can do it then why not Manning. Peyton wants to win immediately and Alex Smith is overrated. That's just my opinion. What do you guys think???

The plot thickens! Rooted for Peyton and Colts, so where he lands is what's best for him. But, Tennessee is looking real good with many more pros than cons.

His U football career and a large fanbase following. Good solid base team to work with. HC Munchak played in Houston with Archie. Wife is from Tennessee, close to home. PM knows his division opponents very well, one very intimately (he has an edge here). HC just hired Dennis Polian (another familiar face to PM). Potential for future sports management job (which he studied in University) in a familiar place, surrounded by family and friends. Why not?

He may wish to end the circus in TEN. Once he decides and signs the deal, the media blitz will cease. And Peyton will be at the facilities immediately to rehab and work on game plans.

    Lee, let's discuss your breakdown:
    1. O-Line, you think Tebow helped save 12 sacks with his style of play? More like added 12 sacks. Definite advantage to the Broncos there.
    2. Defense - you can pull up all of the year end stats you want. I want a defense that keeps me in games or wins them for you, as the Denver D did. None of Tebow's magic happens otherwise. Those year end stats you quote also include the 1-4 broncos from the beginning of the season.
    3. Division, much easier to beat the AFC west than San Francisco.
    4. I will admit, Patrick Peterson is pretty good, but AZ will be losing some of those special team studs blocking for him when they have to pay Peyton.
    5. and 6. How can you give AZ an advantage for a dome and weather? It is one or the other my friend. You obviously haven't been to Denver much, just because they always show the ski resorts during nationally covered games doesn't mean it is the same in Denver. We actually have mild winters, especially during football season (71 in Denver today).
    7. Fitzgerald, great receiver, only second to Andre Johnson. He also eats up a lot of cap room. I dont think the Cards can afford everything that Peyton wants.
Let's add number 8, probably the most important.
    Broncos cap room: $42 million
    Cards cap room: $14 million

Arizona. Arizona is in the most need of a quarterback, as they have been struggling w/the quarterback position since Warner retired. Kolb I just don't see as the fit for them. Although they have had some offensive line issues, they will be addressing that in the draft, im sure. Arizona has a pretty awesome defense that just keeps improving, Patrick Peterson gives them great field position and of course, he would have Larry Fitzgerald to throw to, which is just an amazing combination. I say Arizona, he would be welcomed so warmly, where as some Tebow fans will be upset. Arizona!

  • Norah - 12 years ago

Denver. Unfortunately, that means that they would need to get rid of Tebow. With the way we Bronco fans are...the minute Manning makes the smallest mistake, the whole stadium will be yelling for Tebow. Even if he was kept on for a Tight End or Full Back position.
I hate to see him go, but we need Manning, and there will be too many distractions if there's a bad play. That stadium becomes deafening when the 'TEBOW' chants start. And believe me, if he stays...the chants are bound to come.

  • Patrick - 12 years ago

Any AFC team. I would like to see Peyton v. Eli in the Super Bowl. You know Archie and Olivia would have a tough time deciding what to do.

  • drtacp - 12 years ago

Marshall is no longer a Dolphin. Garcon is a Redskin. Moss (whoever) is a 49er. Peyton is* a Bronco or at least he, Elway and Fox have an already established simpatico. Brandon Stokely and Dallas Clark could easily be Broncos as well. AFC west is the fastest track to the Superbowl for a talent like Manning. Denver defense is built to play from ahead. Bronco front office has proven willingness to accommodate QB needs. Although I hate to mention it, salary cap is in Denver's favor over other contenders. I doubt the new Tennessee coach wants to be upstaged in football knowledge by his QB.
    * Depends upon what your definition of 'is' is.

Arizona hands down! No other team has anything to offer him that the the Cardinals do not have, On the other hand the cardinals have more to offer than any other team has. I will use the Broncos for example since they seem to be the stiffest competition. 1. O-line. Although the cardinals had 54 sacks and the broncos gave up 42 the difference is the QBs, Tebow ran for his life most of the time and because of his athletic ability he escaped more than the 12 sack difference where as Kevin Kolb was notorious for holding the ball to long. 2. Defense. Cardinals in 2011 ranked 18th and the Broncos 20th, Advantage Cards. 3. Although the divisions are very simalar as far as winability the Cardinals have shown their ability to already be competitive at the highest level by defeating the NFC west champs ( 49ers ) with the personel and the mediocre QBs they have now, With Manning this division is a slam dunk. 4. This is something that no one has talked about but is very important in a QBs eyes, The Cardinals have one of the best return men in football in Patrick Peterson, It is a big deal for a team to have position at the 40 or 50 yard line than the 20 or 25 This field position is big for an offense. Advantage Cardinals 5. Dome, Broncos none, Advantage Cardinals. 6. Winter weather, Az 72 degrees, Denver 35, Advantage Cardinals. 7. Last and of course not the least Larry Fitzgerald. Denver has no one in their receiving core that is remotely on the same level and I dought that they would even dispute that. If Reggie Wayne were to accompany Peyton to Az this combo would be unstoppable in that division. I think 5 & 6 may not be a huge factor except for the fact that Denver only plays 1 game indoors all season. So 5&6 are just icing on the cake. Peyton is friends with Ken Whisenhunt and Fitzgerald so he will be comfortable with the situation. The only thing that Denver can say they have that the Cardinals don't have is the AFC. Other than that There is not 1 thing that Denver can offer that Arizona doesn't have. Therefore the logical place for him is the Arizona Cardinals. Now logic is out the window if Az can't free up enough cap room but I am sure they already have plans to do so or they never would have had him visit. As I said this is the choice that makes the most sense and gives him a chance to win a championship soon.

    Titans!!!
He knows the division & he played for UT Knoxville & I believe he'd fit in well with the Tennessee Titans!! If injured Hasselback or Locker could step in & Manning could teach Locker a few tricks to being a better QB!! So Titans all the way!!!

  • jesse - 12 years ago

Tennessee. I would like to see him beat the colts often.

  • Steve - 12 years ago

The texans might have the best wide out in football(Andre Johnson), and two 1,000 yard rushers. Manning is missing puzzle piece in huston

  • Joseph Guerrieri - 12 years ago

Broncos...Manning would be most comfortable with Broncos management to include owner, coach and Elway. Also, the Broncos are in a position to give Manning his surrounding offensive cast due to the largest available amount under salary cap. So...with all considered...Manning have the best "comfort zone" available with the Broncos. If he preps for this decision like he preps his games...it will be the Broncos.

  • nick - 12 years ago

dolphins, they got some good young recievers and reggie bush is just nasty.

  • Larry Poynor - 12 years ago

Peyton is my all time favorite player. I would rather he take an executive job and retire from playing. It would be terrible if he winds up being paralized by playing again.

  • DAVE WELLS - 12 years ago

Keep Tim Tebow at all costs to learn from Manning and to "rest" Manning (or" injured again").
Tebow at TE or Full Back or even Linebacker keeps the Bronco fans happy and loyal for the
eventual day "It's Tebow starting again at QB!"... Actually Manning would get better results for Miami since he knows that division's defenses better!

  • Trace j13 - 12 years ago

Arizona. If you watched the last half of the season. The cards had an outstanding defense after being hurt by the short training time last offseason cause of the lockout. Fitzgerald is a stud. In that stretch , they proved that they can win against good teams by beating the 49ers. They are in amazing weather plus a dome. Perfect for manning. The one downside is a struggling oline

  • skip a - 12 years ago

Hire manning, keep tebow as a TE and backup QB. Would give gronkowski a run for his money. People and fans love tebow. Keep him in Denver. He loves to run, has the size and talent to be a remarkable TE. Look at his running yards in Florida. Just food for thought.

  • salvi - 12 years ago

a continue of my last comment. lets take some teams that manning is looking at and compair to miami. arizona has fitserald ok he is i would say the best WR in the game hands down. but marshal is right up there to when he has a good QB throwing to him. marshel is a huge target being 6'4" and 230lb he is way more physical with his realeases than larry fitsgrald. if miami does sign wayne witch will mostlikely happing if manning is there then he has 2 elite WRs to pass to. arizona has a good D fence but miami ranked 5 spots over then in D fence this year. broncos have a all together great team if you put manning the the mix there eather way with manning there or with him in miami manning will have weapons and a good D fence but i have to give it to miami when it comes to whos better. just because miami lost to them by one point this season meens nothing the only reason miami lost was because of tony sparons desision to go for 2 when he should not have at all if they did not go for 2 in that game the whole game would have changed. plus playing in mile high stadium is not the place for manning now after 4 neck surgeries when he can play in the beautiful weather in miami.

  • Jesus - 12 years ago

they did say best fit!!! So Texans are the best fit for Manning.

  • Michael Hardie - 12 years ago

I voted for Tennessee. I WAS a Titans fan so I know the team. People outside the eastern half of Tennessee have no idea how popular Peyton is in that part of the country. Especially Nashville. He spends a time there regularly. He could run for Governor. If he signs with the Titans he may not have to even run. They might just anoint him.
Also, he knows the division and it would be a short plane ride to his home in Miami. Probably a better chance of winning in Nashville than Miami.
I am currently a Texans fan, mainly because Houston is my hometown (though I don't live there now). The reports have been consistent that they are not interested. I would prefer to see him there but I have my doubts.
If I were him I would probably pick Denver.
    Truth is, who knows?

  • salvi - 12 years ago

miami is best fit. here is why. miami has nice weather and also manning already has a home in miami so he would not have to relocate his family. also miami is in the AFC so he can continue to play in the AFC. if manning signs with miami he will have weapons dispite what other people may think. he will have a amazing WR with brandon marshel who holds the record for most catches in a game with 21 and most TDs for a WR in the probowl both when he had a decent QB throwing to him imagine if he had manning throwing to him and the underated devon bess. also he will have Rb redggie bush who is one of the best receving RBs in the NFL and rushed for about 1100 yards this year and bush has thomas running under him also taking alot of carries. miami has a decent O line but that will inprove if they draft Jonathan Martin, offensive tackle out of Stanford. then manning will have great protection in the pocket to insure him not to be hurt. also there is talk about reggie wayne going to miami. wayne said he wants to be in miami becuse that is ware he played college ball. so in that case you have manning, marshel, wayne and bush on a offence umm can you say best offence in the NFL. but we all know that offence is not everything look at the patriots this year the only reason they went to the superbowl was cus of offence the ability to out score almost everyone but they have no D fence thats why new york beat them. so miami this past year had the number 3 defence in the leage this year agenst the run. and by the way they ranked 5 spots over arizons D in total D fence. with dansby as middle line backer and camron wake as outside backer u dont run on miami. also camron wake is one of the most fierd pass rushers in the game right now. miami has a great corner in davis who is a total shut down corner. might a remind you of when he picked off the amazing tom bready 2 times in one season while covering randy moss both times. one of those ints he actually jumped over moss and moss is about 6'2" davis only being about 5'11". ok so theres the D fence talk. now lets cover who manning will have to play twice a year. jets bills patriots. well bills everyone knows miami can beat them no problem even with just matt moore passing so for manning it should be a walk in the park. now the patriots have no D fence as we watched chad henne throw for over 450 yards on them this year. manning will be hitting marshel all day agenst new england and not to mention if miami picks up wayne then thats even more potential for someone to be open every play. now the jets have the best d fence in the teams that miami has to play. but even last year with only more and with out bush they still beat the jets. every time i have watched marshel play the jets its always derrel revis that is covering him on every play and its every game that marshel comes out on top in that batle. marshel is one of the most phyisical WRs in the NFL and revis always has a hard time with that. and if miami gets wayne then that takes pressure off of marshel and give manning more options as to ware to throw the ball on the jets D fence. miami is literaly a QB short of a superbowl even without wayne. end of story if payton goes to miami then miami wins the superbowl at least once with his time in miami. so manning to miami sounds great and would be great. the team has not had a great QB scence dan marino retired in 1999. when marino was playing he never had a great team around him unlike manning would now if he signs to miami. so if manning signs with them he has weather great weaons good D fence and a big fan base lus he gets to shut up tom brady whats better than that.

  • Joe - 12 years ago

Miami...because they are alot closer then there record shows. If they had a Manning type caliber QB on last years team they probably win at least 11 games. I believe they lost 5 games by less then 3 points and two because of turn overs. There defense was alittle shakey early on but then played well and only gave up 19.6 points per game and that with not having a QB that will prolong drives and put points on the board to make other teams feel the pressure and make them more predictable. There offense has a solid O-line probably moreso then any of these other teams and they have weapons like Marshall, Bess, Fasano, and Bush and probably could sign Wayne. That would be one big time offense. Manning signs with Miami they become an instant Superbowl contender and will bring alot of problems to the Pat's and Jet's.

  • Trey - 12 years ago

Why does nobody see the Texans as a major player? You got a great D, Arian Foster is a top 5 back and Manning could also throw the ball to arguably the best WR in the game right now in Andre Johnson. The texans are a QB away from smashing that weak division and you cant tell me Peyton wouldn't enjoy playing Indy twice a year either.

  • Dan - 12 years ago

Broncos are most in need of a QB. Tebow still has so much to learn and Manning would fit right in and make the Broncos an instant contender. To many egos and other leaders on the other teams so the Broncos would be easiest for Manning to call "his team"

  • brandon - 12 years ago

When I look at the Denver Broncos I see a team with a nice mix of veterans and younger players. The Broncos also could use some help at the WR position and the addition of Reggie Wayne and/or Pierre Garcon could prove to be helpful if they are to follow. Lets not forget that the Broncos also have Brandon Stoakely, who played with Manning for 3 seasons as a Colt. The Broncos also have a head coach who is a veteran too, unlike many of the other teams in the Manning sweepstakes.

  • Chris - 12 years ago

Well The Niners have the #1 defense. Randy Moss may be older, but not at all washed up. Theres more to the game than being on the field. Also, they have Micheal Crabtree if you want to get technical, and after being mentored by the likes of Randy Moss, he's going to be a huge threat in the NFL. With or without Peyton manning, the 49ers will take a Superbowl in the near future. I just think he'd be smart to come along for the ride.....

  • Shane - 12 years ago

San Fran has no chance. Randy Moss was an excellent player at one point, but he is ultimately a whiny cancer on a team. Denver has a slightly better chance than SF so long as Manning understands it is a two year deal. Denver WILL resign Tebow in two years and he will be the future of Broncos football. I think TN is merely getting a courtesy at this point because of all of his ties to the state and the team. This leaves us with Arizona and Miami as the only real contenders in my opinion. Arizona's biggest draw is WR Fitzgerald, and that's a mighty big draw. Personally, I think Miami offers him the most overall. A top 10 defense, an OL that just keeps getting better (those of you who would point out some of the holes in their OL from last year need to understand that there were so many injuries some of the members of the team were playing positions they hadn't played since high school or college to help fill in gaps and they STILL kept nearly every game close) A receiving corp set to be one of the best in the league anchored by Brandon Marshall, and the phins have the space to go after Reggie Wayne and possibly a member or two of Manning's Indy OL. From the moment he was officially let go the Dolphins were my front-runner. The only thing that's changed is the media hype. Oh, I'm a Bears fan by the way

  • Chris - 12 years ago

Of course the San Francisco 49ers. They are a team bound for greatness during the next decade. They made it all the way to the Championship game with Alex Smith, who is niether a Leader or a Great quarterback. He's mediocre at best. With the right leadership and a QB of Peyton Mannings stature, they are bound to take a Super bowl or two within the next decade, if not more. With the signing of Randy Moss, they are looking to the near future and the big picture. Once they can achieve that goal, they will once again win the respect of they're fans (fairweather), the media, each other and other teams. Its their decade, they are back with a vengance and if Peyton wants a couple of more rings, that would be the best choice he could make.

  • Danny Rodriguez - 12 years ago

For sure San Fran. With the talent they already have on offense just waiting for a QB and with with one of the best defenses in the league he'd be prime to bring them to the Superbowl!!!

  • Miles Williams - 12 years ago

Tebow is out. Manning is in.

  • mark - 12 years ago

randy moss, no need to say more

  • Ashley - 12 years ago

Denver. They have the salary cap room. Elway wants to get rid of Tebow, so Manning wouldn't have this so called "QB controversy".

  • gabriel - 12 years ago

Everybody know the miners are the best fit rite now for superbowls the whole team is there they just need a quarter back the he only can do so much for the other teams there defense Keeps them in the game and peyton Manning puts points up

  • JonR - 12 years ago

I'll rule out Arizona and San Fran because of the location. I don't see Peyton going out west. Denver already has Tebow and I don't see Peyton getting into a QB controversy. That leaves Miami and Tennessee, both would be really good choices. But I'll say the Titans because he and his wife have ties to the area and I'm from Nashville. So there you have it. I have a bias for my hometown but at least it's reasonable.

  • Marci - 12 years ago

I think Peyton would be a great fit and totally beneficial to every team out there. However, as a FORMER Colts fan, I'd love nothing more than to see him in Tennessee where he can beat the Colts twice a year and win the division!!

  • G - 12 years ago

Broncos because of the salary cap room, they can pick up Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark.

  • Arrogant 1 - 12 years ago

    Ravens or Bears

  • Anthony - 12 years ago

49ers would be his best option if peyton want to win a superbowl with one of if not the best defence and now throw in randy moss and peyton I see a super bowl bound team peyton be smart and go to the beautiful city of san francisco
