Does Matt Flynn make the Seahawks a playoff team?

Getting Flynn was a great move. Jackson was a back-up and always will be. To get to be a playoff contender, the Seahawks need to add more speed on D and solidify their offensive line. THEY NEED TO MAKE SOME GOOD DRAFT CHOICES FOR ONCE.

The secondary proved to be a strong group and will improve termendously if the D-line can improve on the pass rush and the linebackers can start tackling people at the line of scrimmage instead of after a 5-7 yard gain.

The question I have: Are the Seahawks and their fans happy with a playoff contender or do we want to be a Super Bowl Contender? They can only be a Super Bowl contender if they do their job in drafting the right people. Right Mr. Schneider?

There were minimum three losses last year where minor differences in QB performance would have equaled victories and ZERO wins created by a superb quarterback performance. If those losses were wins it would have been a 10-6 year. With one more year of chemistry this should easily be an 11-5 team. No way San Fran goes 13-3 again. They did it with mirrors.

Flynn is definetly better than Tavarius, they should trade T while they can to pick up a QB in the draft or a wide receiver. If they continue with tavarius not only will they lower the possibility of making the play offs they wont get anything for him in a trade.

Whew! Timing is everything. We have to give the breaks to the slow start on a "new" team in 2011, with the shortened offseason not allowing enough time for the team to coalesce. With a couple of more freeagent plug-ins, it's on to the draft. Maybe they're not ready for the Super Bowl, but Matt Flynn and the other moves will get us to the playoffs. I'd bet my second string rooster on it...well okay, I'd give you my second string rooster. TJ would be a great back-up if he is willing to accept it.

If they get the O-line fixed, I think Flynn will do well. TEs will see more action as will RBs on check-offs. Flynn looks to be a smart guy. Overall, I think a smart move for the Hawks. And at a contract that doesn't bind them long term or incapicitate them financially short term.

The question is how the rest of the offense is structured. If it's structured for a mobile quarterback that is an individual playmaker, Flynn's got a tough matchup. If the rest of the offense needs a pocket quarterback with good vision and solid decision making under pressure, he's the guy.

The way the running game is structured, I've got to think a pocket QB is better. But maybe part of the success of the running game last year was due to having threatening mobility at QB? Tough to say. Ultimately, it'll be about how defenses react to a less mobile QB with a better arm and decisioning. I think we're in a better position with Flynn.

Playoff team? Non athletic, questionable arm strength backup QB from Green Bay? Thank you, we have got another! Smart, good leader with all the intangibles... Looking forward to opening day and the ones to follow!

Definitely a move in the right direction.....I prefer the Seahawks making this move over an older veteran or prized rookie.... Matt has been given a taste of what it takes to be an elite QB through observing, learning and taking the helm of a well refined offense. Seattle just needs to be patient as we put many parts together to form possibly a consistent playoff team with great potential to reach the Super Bowl. Give this team 2 years........ Really glad to see Schneider is not fearful of making big moves. Either moving them in or out...... Go Hawks

NFC West is an improving division top tp bottom. Seahawks should definitely be better but will have to be successful in their divisional games if they expect to make the playoffs. The front office is doing an absolutely great job.

The Seahawks already ARE a playoff caliber team (with only a partially healthy QB). With two healthy capable QB's competing for the job they put themselves in a better position to win a game when the starter is hurt. Sorry Charlie.
The only question in my mind is the health of the O-Line which pulled off miracles last year considering the injuries and switching around. Thanks Tom Cable !

Matt Flynn will do just fine as he was a great player in the SEC in college against the best defences in college. T. Jackson should have never been brought to Seattle as he was a back-up to a 40 year old that couldn't get ot done anymore.

The last 'Matt' worked out pretty well. Now its time for Matt the Younger. Despite his less than imposing physical attributes, he's a leader and a playmaker. Looking forward to seeing him perform.

The addition of Flynn will put some pressure on Jackson to up his game. Jackson has the skills to be a strong QB but hasn't demonstrated this to the Seahawk organization or fans. Thats part Jackson's problem and part the NFL's problem since there was no real pre-season and development time for the new team makeup. It could also explain why performance didn't improve until the second half of the season.

Flynn was a solid performer while at LSU and knows what it takes to play at champions levels from his time both at LSU and Green Bay. This has been missing in Seattle for a long time. Since he didn't jump right into a starting QB position upon entering into the NFL I think he's had more time to develop his skills and hopefully some of Aaron Rodgers brushed off on him. Looking at Aaron Rodgers he undeniably a solid quarterback and has a great reputation in Green Bay and across the NFL. This is what Seattle needs. Coach Carrol has had time to shake up the coaching staff and players. Now he needs to settle up the lines and start building the program into what the organization and fans expect. I think the addition of Matt Flynn brings us one step closer to achieving that.

Liked Flynn in 2010. Did not see him play in 2011. I have confidence in ability of team to find players so it should be better. I like Jackson though and would like to see him perform without injury. So if it is a fair competition it should be fun to watch and see who wins the job.

Matt Flynn may be an unproven back up but so was Tom Brady. The good QB's learn behind the great QB's... Brady behind Blessed, Rivers behind Brees, Rodgers behind Favre, and now Flynn behind Rodgers. Kevin Kolb didn't pan out because he didn't have a great QB to learn behind, same with Alex Smith, Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco, etc. YES, they've all taken their team to the conference championship game, but they are mediocre at best. Flynn may only have 2 starts under his belt, but the experience he gained while studying under Aaron Rodgers is invaluable. Flynn is a huge upgrade at the QB position for Seattle and rounds out,in my opinion, the most solid team in the NFC West. All the Seahawks were missing last year was a decent signal caller. Lloyd for the Hawks to not only be in contention to make the playoffs but be the favorites to win the up and coming NFC West. The 49er's were a fluke last year and while they may be a contender this year, the Seahawks are better at RB, WR, OL, and now QB than the 49ers are, I also like to think our 3 pro bowlers on defense makes our secondary better than there's too. I'm not saying they are an instant Super Bowl contender but they sure are in a lot better shape than last year with the QB possition figured out (and it is figured out... Jackson won't be starting next year)
