Detroit series showed how bad it can get... Play to rebuild...forget this year...bring up iglesias, lavarnway and middlebrooks... Trade youks for anything decent...put Bard where he belongs...etc etc etc

If the team had the confidence in Bard as a closer Bailey wouldn't even be here. I agree Cook will be called up before May 1 and replace an injured player or Dubront/Bard. Dice-K will be back with something to prove and if he can look anything like he did in 2007-08 then our bullpen could become a strength with Bard/Aceves/Dubront and Bailey all in it. Pray for Cook and Dice-K to pitch well and they'll indirectly make our bullpen the best in the game. For all of Cherrington's non-spending the team really does have potential internal solutions to many situations as it pertains to pitching.
Bring Cook up now and we lose one of our depth pitchers to waivers as no one has options to go to the minors. Wait on Cook/Dice-K let things sort themselves out and remember a terrible April will not lose our chance of the playoffs, but a terrible September will. "2011"

At this point, with Bailey out until the All-Star break, I think they'd better cancel their test drive of Bard as a starter. Put him where he belongs, as the closer, and then use Melancon/Aceves to get to him in the 7th/8th innings. Bring up Cook, who has done absolutely nothing wrong this spring as the #5 starter.
