Rob Ford confronted the reporter in a public park and demanded his blackberry and recorder. Sounds like mugging to me -- anyone else would have been arrested by now.

Definately Rob Ford is not being treated fairly. He is the mayor (and doing a good job at that by the way). That does not give the Toronto Star stalking rights. This was his home, and the other day he was going into Kentucky fried chicken. Anyone that has been on a diet knows how hard it is. I give him total credit for attempting to do this in public. Way to go Mayor Ford keep up the good work. I for one will never support the Toronto Star.

Take this Toronto Star - I will vote for Rob Ford again the next time!

I hope Daniel Dale is present at every one of the mayor's public pronouncements from now on. Then the mayor will keep his trap shut, and we'll have less nonsense to listen to. I love the semi-literate comments from the Ford fan club.

So, if Rob Ford is to be believed, he was in fear of his life, his family, his property, and so he decided to confront this deangerous person by sneaking around his house to confront this intruder?
And then, when he gets there, he had no idea who Daniel Dale is, depsite having seen him hundreds of times at City Hall?
And now, he won't talk to ANY PRESS (and hence, to Toronto's citizens) because Daniel Dale is in a scrum?
Come on people, who has the vendetta here?

The Star has been viciously attacking Ford since before he was voted in as mayor.
I find the paper, on this matter, worse than something like the Enquirer.
Furthermore, the Star constantly makes fun of Ford's girth. This is simply unacceptable. The Star never criticized Smitherman for being gay, how do they dare to make fun of a fat person?

No matter where the reporter was standing and what he was doing, Ford shouldn't have run at the reporter with a cocked fist. Ford should have called the police and let them deal with it.

Instead, Ford demonstrates his serious anger management and impulse control problem.

Our we so jaded that we find this intrusion acceptable? What has happened to RESPECTing the office of the Mayor? I'm disgusted with the people who can't see anything wrong with invasion of personal space, especially when at home.

If you are a public figure you lose your privacy. Part of being in the public eye. Ford you do not need more land. Just build your fence.

This continues the ridiculous confrontation between Ford and TorStar. Grow up.
My impression would be that a well regarded reporter was doing due diligence on something that should be very interesting to the Toronto public. If the Mayor's house gets in some of the pictures, so be it. It's relevant.

I really think it is revolting that this "Reporter" was peeping over the fence and taking photos of Rob Ford and his family. I am also revolted that the Toronto Star can't muster the integrity to condemn this outrageous activity.
Why don't they allow people and their families to have their privacy?
The Star needs to get a life.
With this, I will vote for Rob Ford, next time.

Mayor Ford is a hero of some sort. It must be very difficult for a mayor to fulfill his duties as such despite having half if not 3/4 of his council working feverishly against him. Thank goodness for the few honourable council members who are supporting him. This idiot from the Star is adding to the constant personal attacks against him and his family.

Guess what People? Your plans, whatever they are, are backfiring on you and the mayor's support is increasing daily as it should. So do us all Torontonians a favour and let him do his job, he is more genuine and honest than most of you but of course, you can’t relate to that!

The Star needs to back off, everyone including the Mayor is entitled to the privacy and enjoyment of their own home, without a peeping Tom creeping around with a camera!

The mayor deserves privacy while in in his home. The approach of the Toronto Star is sleezy at best. The reporter lacks credibility as he was not even on the property being considered by Mayor Ford. I believe that charges should be laid under the Peping Tom provisions. If the reporter had any proper motivation, he would have given notice to the mayor. This is clearly a deliberate taunt by th Star, obviously frustrtated by the mayor's shun of their publication.

The reporter should be charged for criminal harassment. Boycott the Toronto Star and advertisers should pull some advertise funding.

  • James Patterson - 12 years ago

This is seriously a breach of privacy, I feel for the mayor , no call by the Star and a witness has seen the reporter taking pictures of the mayor inside his home. This is disgusting and must stop.

Toronto Star continues with it's dirty tactics..
