Goodman's account of the night of the accident is just absolute bull. Look at the intersection of 120th and Lake Worth. The fact is he blew a stop that he knew was there, went across 2 or 3 lanes with a Hyundai wrapped around the front of his car, thought only of saving his own ass, mysteriously got to a friend's stable (still don't know if a buddy may have picked him up), drank to cover his already drunken state (suggested action in such cases) and only called 911 as part of planned damage control.He has never done anything for anyone but himself, don't be fooled.
Look at his parental track record......................
His legal team will keep up the appeal until and eventually wiggle out of most if not all charges

I don't know if he is an idiot savant or just socially inadequate, but its no wonder he developed a drinking problem over the course of his life. He has a very mild if any personality. He seems unable to even express himself. For a 48 year old man, given the gravity of the situation you would think he would be able to put together a reasonable apology.
Maybe he never fully evolved due to a sheltered life. His brother seemed very similar. They seem like nice people just kind of uncomfortable in their own skin.

I don't know if he is an idiot savant or just socially inadequate, but its no wonder he developed a drinking problem over the course of his life. He has a very mild if any personality. He seems unable to even express himself. For a 48 year old man, given the gravity of the situation you would think he would be able to put together a reasonable apology.
Maybe he fully evolved due to a life of shelter. His brother seemed very similar. They seem like nice people just kind of uncomfortable in their own skin.

Under 10! No priors, could do so much more good out of jail. To all of you that say "unlike other cases"...you're being ignorant..people with prions and much more premeditated/aggravated and violent crimes get a fraction of the sentence Goodman is facing. You just don't hear about those cases bc they are not thrown at you by the media like this one.

He should get 30 years - unlike the other cases, he fled the scene and let the victim drown without even attempting to help. His defense story was ludicrous - a clear attempt to avoid taking responsibility. Just because your insurance company can write a big check does not mean he should get away with a shorter sentence.

In May of 2009, a veteran Chicago Police officer killed a 13-year-old bicyclist in a drunk driving hit-and-run crash. Last month, the officer was sentenced to three years in prison and two years of probation following his release for his aggravated DUI and reckless homicide convictions. As part of his community service, Cook County Judge Matthew Coghlan ordered Bolling to talk to high school students and police academy recruits about the dangers of driving while intoxicated.
This is a reasonable and measured punishment which will serve some benefit to the community at large. It will be interesting to see if Judge Colbath can maintain the same level of judicial dignity and intelligence.
Needless to say, the Chicago case did not attract the attention that Mr. Goodman's case has attracted. The police officer was not wealthy. He did not pay the victim's family millions and millions of dollars.
Those people who are advocating "maximum" sentences are trying to punish Mr. Goodman for his wealth and his good fortune in being wealthy.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

No priors, no intent = minimum sentence. Ya'll want to punish him for his purse not the crime. Look at other like crimes and the sentences received! Why should Goodman get triple the average sentence? Because its high profile? Colbath should be disbarred if he buys into the media frenzy and gives a anything over 11.5 years. The settlement was unprecedented, Goodman is clearly remorseful and ruined and more than willing to dedicate the rest of his life to a cause of the Wilson's choosing. If the Wilson's choose revenge over taking this opportunity to benefit so many via Goodmans community service (while Lilli Wilson pockets her $23million and the father his and does nothing for charity...) in exacting the maximum sentence it will prove just how selfish they really are.

Why should someone with no priors get 4x the average sentence people normally get for this? Are you guys suggesting Goodman get 20 + serious?

John should get probation. With his financial resorces there could be a plethora of good like having drunk driving clinics, counseling centers.
He was clearly out of control of his life. As the Psychiatrist would say, "to thy own self be true>" he has to admit his culpability.

If he just would have done the right thing from the start.. Check into rehab for 6 months..write the family a check...plead guilty and ask for mercy on the court for his addictions. With no prior's , he may have gotten house arrest. BUT, he tried to buy his way out with $. Give him 20!

The women serving time on weekends was the driver and the passenger in her vehicle was killed. She didn't run away. She took responsibility for her actions and didn't come up with all these phony excuses and defenses.
Goodman should get 15-20 years in jail, permanent revocation of his drivers license and at least 10-15 years probation.

The same as other like crimes! The woman who serves weekends in jail, 9 years on another recent case (both Florida cases) ...are we punishing Goodman more for his wealth? If so the Wilson's should not get to profit $46 million by the death of their son. Can't have it both ways!
