The contestants know that- everyone knows that. So, you vote for your favorite as much as you choose to. Jessica's fans probably could have voted more than they did, but they didn't, and Phillip won. Them's the rules, Ben. No sour grapes, buddy. I voted non-stop for 4 hours for Adam Lambert (via text) and he lost. Them's the rules. I didn't whine when he lost to Kris Allen (who?). Jessica was robbed. How? On a radio program on May 22, 2012 a caller reported that she had voted for Joshua and that when she verified how her vote went and found out that it went to Phillip. AI a Popularity contest? False! FAQ of AI says that you can phone or text in your vote as many times as you can for two hours after the AI finale. Ryan Seacrest said 132 million votes or so. If one voted 20 times, then more than 6 million viewers voted. Phillip's supporters phoned in or texted MORE TIMES than Jessica's. How can you call AI popularity when it is not based on the actual number of persons who voted but on the number of times they voted. Say Jessica's 3 million supporters voted 20 times only and gave Jessica 60 million votes but Phillip's 2.5 million fans voted 30 times and gave Phillip 75 million votes. Jessica is more popular but got less votes (less calls or texts) than Phillip. You CAN'T SAY PHILLIP WON THE POPULARITY CONTEST based on the number of calls and texts in his favor BUT NOT ON THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO VOTED. What result? AI is a farce and a fraud. Get over it people. For Jessica to lose because of race is not the issue. People voted and we all should accept it. To blame racism victimizes us all. How would we know it's based on race when we don't see who cast their votes and even if we do, it's based on how many did vote. It's my first time to vote and honestly, I voted for Jessica all the way. I really thought it would have been Joshua & Jessica in the finale, but in the long run we vote whom we like and love the most.

I was for Jessica from day one.We lived in Chula Vista in the 90's and I wanted to see her win. I hope that she will become a great star.
I thought that Joshua was far better than either of the 2 finale finalists. I have watched Idol every season and I was so wanting for Jessica to win after Joshua got voted off. He was the best, but I never connected with Phil Phillips. I just hated to watch all the faces he made , and he doesn't have a powerful voice. I voted multiple times for Jessica the night of the finals. She will do well, and I wish the best for Phillip, but just think she will sell more records.

The race comments are ridiculous. Ruben, Fantasia, Jordan Sparks. It's about who has the most charisma, someone who can entertain the masses, not necessarily who can do the most complex vocal runs. I am saddened by the pathetic mindset of those who want to believe Phillip's victory is because of so-called "racism". American Idol is not a singing contest, never has been, never will be. It is a performance/popularity contest in which the best singer may not win. So what??? Winning AI ($100,000 and a new car) is not like winning the $5 million X-Factor purse. Also, many second, third and fourth place finishers have gone on to stellar careers in the entertainment industry, and Jessica will be right up there with them.

No doubt, Jessica should have won American Idol hands down. It is obviously due to the make-up of the voters and definitely America is still full of people who are prejudice. Americna Idol should limit the number of times a person can vote from a certain phone like other shows and it should not be unlimited. Maybe that would help. Another suggestion is to have Judges who have real experience and have been truly successful judge and provide half of the voting for the results. Anyway, Jessica, you are truly America's winner. You will be far more successful than the winner.

Absolutely the right one won. Jessica is a great singer, no doubt, but I never related to her and I would never buy her music. I'll give credit where credit is due, this season had some talent, but I think Phillip definitely deserved it. Jessica will still get a record deal, for sure. I think it's a matter of music taste as well, but I never thought he could pull off an Usher song and when he did, he had me as a fan, that was my favorite of his. If you don't like the outcome, VOTE! MULTIPLE TIMES!

No I do not feel that the right singer won. Jessica or Joshua should have won this contest. There is no way Phillip should have won over Jessica nor Joshua. He sounds alright, but every American does not like that type of music therefore I no in fact that American Idol is rigged. There has not been a black or female winner in a long time which makes me think that it a racial thing. I will continue to watch the show but I am very disappointed in the results, because they make the viewers think that there vote count when it don't. Hollie, Skylar, Colton and DeAndre where all better than Phillip. Talking about knowing who you are, Skylar and Joshua knew who they where but they still got voted off. God bless each of you who did an excellent job but got looked over, just know that what God has for you it is for you. I have nothing against Phillip but he just wasn't the best contestant. Oh well politics as usually.

Jessica is an amazing talent to be 16. But as time goes on and Josh, and the rest will get recording deals....we will see. But people this was not about Politics. 132 million people voted. I dont think that many people voted in the last Presidential election...so again America spoke

I thought Jessica was the best entertainer. I think the glad mouthing of just about every number by the judges reduced the credibility of Idol. I will not be watching Idol next year because the judges are not doing their jobs. Simon made this show and when he left the show went down hill.

America likes who they like. Jessica and Joshua had the best voices and control and I call it a tie etween those two for pure singing chops. Phillip won the charisma and originality title and that won out over chops.
I had Jessica and Joshua on top of my leader board and thought Phillip was only a marginal singer at best, but American Idol is more of a popularity contest than a vocal contest. Most of the ans are teenage girls that like the boys.

Being the best singer doesn't mean having the widest vocal range, or being able to pull off the most complex runs... Sometimes the character of someone's voice is enough to make them great. And for me, that was Phillips voice. You are entitled to your opinion, but do not make this something it isn't.

Being the best singer doesn't mean having the widest vocal range, or being able to pull off the most complex runs... Sometimes the character of someone's voice is enough to make them great. And for me, that was Phillips voice. You are entitled to your opinion, but do not make this something it isn't.

They got it wrong again. Can anyone of color or ethnicity win? I am so tired of moderately talented white boys winning. This is so wrong but thank God, talents like Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry have made it in spite of losing. Good luck to Jessica and Joshua, they deserve giant careers.
The RIGHT singer definately did NOT win. But, after Joshua was voted off, I realized that it was no longer about who the best singer was. Popularity won this contest, not the best singer.

neither one of them lost they both have lang careers ahead of them. I think that it was close and Phillip came out on top. So yeah id say the right one won,no offense to Jessica cause she has an amazing voice
