For Alg II, I have the ANS key stapled at the back. I told them at the beginning you can do the HW two ways: (1) do the work then check your progress, or (2) copy the answers. "You decide." Only at times I see a couple students just copy the ANS, and in that case I gave them a zero for no work shown.
From there, I correct 8 problems out of the 20-30 problem HW. So HW is out of 8 points.

Like I said earlier, sometimes I assign points and sometimes I don't, but I do like to correct everything. If I can't personally go through each assignment, I'll post answers and have the kids go over theirs.

I believe the students should know if they are doing the homework correctly. The teacher should check for errors if she gives out homework. However, I don't think it should be for a grade. Many students do not have time or the means of doing homework and will fall behind if the work is graded.
