Were the sanctions on Penn State's football team too harsh?

I understand the need for punishment. What concerns me is what kind of person "turns a blind eye" to child abuse? Beginning with Paterno and those he reported it to, or convinced to cover it up according to some, what kind of people are they? Have they no ethics at all, and who hired them? Hiring decisions made at Penn State were poorly made as well. What kind of adults are they, and lack of role models for the students? Quit worrying about football for a minute and take a look at who you hire to set examples for our young people, the rest will follow. It seems the priorities of the importance of punishments are upside down......
