Should DTE Energy be able to charge you to opt out of having your electric meter read wirelessly?

No one has brought up that DTE can remotely turn off your power with these smart meters. It's one thing if you do not pay your bill. Could the smart meter be used to ration your power use? Also, in the future, DTE will start charging home owners on peak & off peak rate just like businesses. They always sell this stuff that it's going to save you money. BS.

DTE ---charging for reading a meter!!!!! Your company is a greedy bunch of fools. Do the job you are obligated to do and quit your damn whining !

Your actions are just like a robber holding a gun to the victim's head and demanding all of his money while at the same time telling the victim it is his fault for being robbed because he had money in his pocket.

Lansing--kick DTE's ass across the border and tell them not to come back until they can act in a responsible manner.

The consumer did not pay for meter reading before DTE wanted to install this service. What the hell is the big difference now!!!!

for an outfit that can't figure out how to keep the power on when it rains this bunch of thieves can always find a new way into our boodle bags

DTE should not be able to charge to read meters because the current electric rates reflect the cost of those meter readers. Also DTE currently charges some of the highest rates in the country. And they recently announced record profits from the increased usage this summer. The citizens in Michigan are struggling yet DTE is profiting handsomely. The State of Michigan has protected DTE's monopoly and has all but handed DTE big profits at the expense of the taxpayers and rate payers.

Buy your own tin foil hats!

There is no reason the rest of us should have to pay for your old fashioned meter reading.

Another fine example of corporate greed. They already add "fluff" to your bill as it is, and they can because they're the only game in town. Enough is enough!!! Line 'em all up ( greedy CEO 's) and give em the St. Valentines treatment !!!
