    Just to note to add about tradition, without the past you don't have the future. The Exhibition Board decided that classic cars were not appropriate for the Queen City Exhibition Parade. It was decided that each participant such as City Councillors, MPs, etc. should find their own transportation. The smart drivers were proactive, found the right contacts and got into the parade with plenty of notice. One regular driver never received any phone calls until the last minute to be in the parade. Now is that fair, of course not. I can only conclude that it is obviously not as easy as one thinks to find modern convertibles for a parade. The parade still draws the crowd that likes to see classic convertibles in a parade, not the average car you can find on the street. Like the old saying, "If it's not broke, don't fix it".

    I forgot to give my props on the most awesome hospitality at the pancake breakfast though, the food was awesome, they fed so many and the people kept flowing in...everything went smoothly and quickly...there was polka type music....coffee and juice galore, free visors...that set up was well thought out!!

    We'd like resonable prices back at the fair too, thanks! It's too "businessy"....I soOo don't get that family fun vibe anymore....not enough benches either...especially if you're on the bigger midway...have some food stands that sell food that ISN'T an instant heart attack...geez step your game up Buffalo Days...and at least allow the little kids to win a little prize, they spent their money trying to win prizes! Many changes can be made to bring more people and up the number of fair-goers!

    I was working in my garage and listening to the radio when I heard there was a parade on. I either missed the standard L-P map of the parade route and other coverage or there wasn't any. The event is now almost un-noticed. When the Buffalo Days theme was going strong it was hard to miss the happening. Every bank and others were a reminder. The media coverage of upcoming new rides and such created anticipation with the kids. All of the related events were huge and you had to live under a rock to miss them. Maybe that cannot be re-created but it does seem worth some effort to look into what has failed and if there are options. (Or is the apathy a message?)

    Yes, I believe Buffalo Days should remain called just that. I don't think changing the name, like many things in the city have been renamed as well, doesn't make much sense. I loved it when the parade started off buffalo days, my children and I would go straight to the fair after the parade. It was a great beginning to a wonderful week of fun. I noticed many things have changed, competition has gone downhill with the parade, no body wants to decorate and make actual floats. I only seen a few nice ones in the parade this year. There were hardly any benches to sit on at the fair, so a person could rest one's feet. Buffalo Days is seemingly gone to the old days..long gone and never to be the same again. Saskatoon has fireworks at their fair, we used to, why do we not have fireworks anymore? And those express passes, where a person can butt into line for a ride is another money making scheme. I imagine Pemmican Pete must be disappointed at how Buffalo Days has lost its original fun-time spirit.

    I agree with the person above;
    The Parade on Saturday; the Pile O Bones Sunday with the fireworks; the Costume contests; pemican Pearl; Beard contests for the Men; and much more were all things we looked forward to as a child. The one thing that was very disappointing this year was the lack of benches throughout the midway. Many women with small kids; strollers; backpacks, waiting for their children to go on and off rides stood there exhausted with absolutely no place to rest their feet. Quit going backwards Regina and make Buffalo Days something to look forward to instead of a money grabbing fair.

    The Exhibition has been going downhill over the last few years. It seems there is less and less offered each year. I really miss the idea of Buffalo Days - with the various competitions including dressing up and work places getting involved in decorating. I also miss seeing the food and craft display with the ribbons to show who won 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes (even though it looked pretty gross by the end of the fair). Where is the large display of art and photography!! What the heck has happened. It seems all they are interested in is overpriced food and overpriced rides. I miss seeing "Band-A-Loni" walking around, or the year the "Elvis" statue was there. And how about the fireworks?! How great was that at the end of the fair. Let's bring more fun and excitement and create more anticipation to the exhibition. Come on, get with it, bring back some of the old stuff. One thing my mother was very disappointed in was the "ONE" day you offered the "Polka Party" for the seniors. We didn't make it the first day, and that is her hightlight of the fair - meeting up with people she hasn't had a chance to keep in touch with for a while. Whoever is in charge - you may think you're doing a spot on job, but you aren't. If someone is dishing out $35-$45 for ride all day passes, you're kids shouldn't be coming face to face with something that's going to cost you an extra $3-$15 for them to enjoy. I can't imagine having more than 1 kid to take to the fair. I know everything costs more, but include everything for that price!! Let's try to do a better job next year. Offering chewy "bacon on a stick" just doesn't do it for me.
