As usual I'm late to the party on this poll, but I figured I'd throw out my list for fun. It also gave me a reason to kill some time by quickly scrapping together a list. One question: I know this episode came fairly recently after The Tree of Life but I was wondering if in retrospect it would make either of your lists? I've just noticed how enamored you both are with it and was wondering if it would be in consideration. Thanks for everything you all do!

    My list:
    City Lights
    Do The Right Thing
    Fargo
    Hoop Dreams
    Jaws
    Paris, Texas
    Rear Window
    The Red Shoes
    Three Colors: Red
    The Tree of Life

Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
    Cheers!

Kyan, just to clarify on this end... There was no confusion between 'best' and most 'influential'. Yes, influence was something we all considered, but it did not drive our picks.

I haven't seen enough of these to definitively say which picks are better. All of them I strongly agree with, and ones, that I wouldn't put on a list.
Personal favorite picks are Rear Window, Sherlock Jr, Annie Hall and Citizen Kane. Least favorites are La Dolce Vita, and Raging Bull.
The only other comment I'd make is I think there was possibly a little confusion around the topic, between BEST films and most Influential. I think some of these films are very important historically, but not necessarily in the top 10. Triumph of the Will was very influential, but rarely breaches many people's top 10's.

As usual I've only seen about half of any of these lists, but I suppose I'd go with Adam. I was with Josh until he included Pinocchio--while there are a few other films discussed that I'm less than in love with (like Modern Times, which I still think is quite good), Pinocchio is the only one that I actively dislike. I find it a very abrasive viewing experience.

Lots of stuff to check out. Sounds like I need to prioritize Sunrise.

kubrick? hmm, i guess he's overrated.

Once again I agree with Michael the most. While Taxi Driver and The Earrings of Madame De... really helped push his list forward it was Michael's inclusion of Duck Amuck that seals it. Is there a single 7 minutes in cinema that tells you more about how films and art are made? I think not.
