What should the 'Bourne' franchise do next?

I just watched and enjoyed Bourne Legacy, being delayed and reticent only because of not knowing any of the back story about writers, producers, and casting until just now. In addition to the quality of scripting, acting, and production values, what I have also found gratifying about the Bourne franchise series is the use of the overlap, integration and re-design of plot lines, as first used with movie 3 re-telling and expanding the final scenes of movie 2.
This reminds me of Shakespeare (and other classical writers) using the "play within a play" framing device, and Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead." It adds depth of field to the overall experience, like a stereo scope. The progressive morphing and re-telling technique, the form, is also congruent with the intrinsic content of the stories and meta-story, compelling the viewer to experience letting go of superficial assumptions as new layers and windows are opened up to disclose still more significant facts and themes. I am now looking forward even more hopefully to Bourne 5 and 6.

I want to see a standalone film with Renner and then a 6th film with Renner and Damon, but I'm not sure I want the 6th to be the last.

I originally said I wouldn't watch a Bourne movie without Damon in it, but I bought the Legacy DVD to watch it and I LOVED IT!!!! I really like Rachel Weisz as an actress in films and especially her role in the Legacy film! I hope to see the two (Renner and Weisz) in Bourne film #5 and in film #6 Renner and Damon.

Damon can't really expect to say absolutely not to the role of Bourne because of conditions of who is running it and expect to then change his mind and try to come back into the role of Bourne under the conditions that the person in charge change back to "Greengrass" or whatever his name is. How important does he really think he is to the film series. I can say not much to me anymore!

The more I times I see this movie on cable the more I really like it! I can't wait to find out how those two get off the fishing boat and back to the US without the CIA tracking them down. Any movie should have Rachael W. In it. She is smart and athletic, plus they make a great pair. I would like the franchise. To end happily for both of them and not kill off another female lead, because its been done already. I agree with most who want another Renner movie and then a Renner/Damon movie as a finale. It would also provide more time to negotiate with the 2 directors but not too much time because Damon isn't getting any younger!

Well as much as I enjoyed Renner I feel as it didn't follow the Bourne I guess cycle or idea more of Bourne is always is seems to be giving the lower hand and the part it did have but really most of this movie was all about pills, true it was to survive but there was less of the treadstone clashing and more third party which in this series I tend not to enjoy as much. As much as bringing Damon back sounds like A good idea it seems like a challenge to write him back in I mean the whole story is based around him but this story the Bourne legacy it's story doesn't line up with the last Bourne movie therefore if they made another movie to really satisfy fans the writers would have a fair amount of explaining to do even if this version was going on during the time of an earlier Bourne move at the last one we had a happy ending with a cliffhanger as much as I would like another bourne movie I strongly think that the kind of screwed the pooch for this one and the setup for the next one if they pretend like this story never happened or the political scenes the ones with the press and all that black briar, treadstone if all that goes away as well as pamela landy's trouble setting us back to how the movie before this one ended the can bring Damon in and hopefully rewrite Renner back in at the same time bringing the old characters back the movie would be worth it keep some of the new actors from legacy but the people who are dead need to stay dead the people who are in jail in the series need to stay in jail or at least get out with a damn good explanation. Now the only problem with this idea is its next to impossible.

Altho I'm for the 4th (majority) option, whatever you do, PLEASE get moving on the next Bourne movie! They're the best! Yes, these two men should join forces. They should expose more of the darkness of the CIA-NSA nonsense that's aiding the ruin of America's reputation and causing chaos and suffering in the world. That should be in the movie.

I think it would be in the best interest of everybody to give Jeremy one more stand alone and bring Damon back in the 6th movie. I think feel that everyone would like to see Damon at the end of the 5th movie with the two joining teams and Damon helping Renner from behind the scenes and then showing himself to Renner in the end of five. I feel that Renners first movie was a great story and one that had to be told in order to move on with the franchise. Damon not being in this movie was probably the best thing that happened and don't get me wrong I am a big Damon fan especially in the Bourne films. With the adaptation of Renner it will give the audience more plot than Damon constantly running by himself. I would also like them to bring Julia back in to help Renner since she is now helping Damon and that could be the link between Renner and Damon. Then they could bring back Pamala Landy to bring it to an end in the 6th movie if they wanted to end it there.
