Did the officials get the final call right?

    Oh, the humanity.
    All seriousness aside,
The call was reviewed and confirmed touchdown in the booth (no substitute reviewers).
It doesn't make any difference how many defensive hands are on the ball as long as the offensive receiver has his hands on the ball. Ties go to the receiver.
    Touchdown!
The only thing that was missed was the push-off.

I thought Pete Carroll with his prancing and fist pumping was a poor sport. Especially with such a sketchy "win". After the meaningless PAT he did the same prance / fist pump instead of shaking the GB coach's hand! I watched it live last night , but can't find the full video today. And, Go Broncos!

  • Ravens Run Home - 12 years ago

MJB... deep breath there old son, don't burst a blood vessel.

Refs made the right call, and as for Tate & Carroll not "fessing up", I don't see any of the GB crowd willing to give back the Packer touchdown after the phantom pass interference call saved THEIR drive!

As for karma, why don't you go back and watch all the ah.. "close"... calls GB received during their superbowl playoff games run???

  • MJB - 12 years ago

GB got scr#*ed. Totally blown call. Get these minor league officials on the bench and end the negotiations. It's oh so obvious that it's wrong. As for Tate, and Caroll, they are no better than the officials except these two have no class at all. The officials believed at the time they made the right call. These two ignoramuses knew it was wrong and sat there and accepted it. Especially Tate. Isn't there a fine for outright lying. The comment, "I don't know what your talking about" was total BS. If he doesn't know what we are talking about, he doesn't deserve to be playing a professional sport or wearing the uniform. You know damn well what we are talking about Tate! A selfish and dishonest player deserves a fine and or suspension just as much as a coach who mouths off, or touches an official. Get the substitute officials and Tate and Carrol the hell out of the game, and get the real officials back and save this season. As for GB, sorry to see you boys on the dirty end of the stick, ( and I am not even a GB fan, far from it) but right is right and wrong is wrong. Better luck next go, and maybe what comes around will go around.

Does anyone really think the replacement ref's are any worse then the real one's?
Seriously, every season all season people complain about how bad the ref's are. So what is so different from this year( other then the replacemnet ref's make less then half as much)

Packers are a class act!!! Seattle not so much. GB will still be a playoff team. Mike McCarthy should get coach of the year for the way he conducted himself. Go Pack!!!!!!

  • 76coug - 12 years ago

I'm from Seattle and I agree Packers fans have a right to be angry. However, I have a different perspective on bad calls and their relative importance in a season. I was angry that a "regular" referee said he mistakenly thought Vinnie Testaverde's helmet was the football when he signaled touchdown on the final play of a game with the Jets years ago. The replays clearly showed the ball a half yard short, but there was no instant replay then. That was the last regular game of the season and knocked Seattle out of the playoffs. Or in the Super Bowl against Pittsburgh when Matt Hasselbeck throw an interception and was called for a chop block when he attempted to tackle the player with the ball. The league actually defended that call! You should be angry, but imagine how angrier you could be if this was not the third game of the season but something more important. Let's bring back the regular refs before that happens.

  • Beth Oliver - 12 years ago

This was beyond pathetic as far as refereeing is concerned. I have never seen a whole game that even came close to this disaster. I think I could have done better. Yes, me.

We, as fans, should be up in arms about this. Why are we allowing this to happen? This is across the board, not just one team paying the price.

I am a Green Bay fan, but I also have an interest in Russell Wilson coming from the Badgers. Forget my allegiances, this was a a travesty of justice for everyone which will only get worse unless something is done NOW.

  • dojo_rat - 12 years ago

Let's see. Greedy pig owners steal one from the Packers by refusing to compromise with real refs? Perfect example of why they need to get real refs back in the game. Most will yell and scream about the last call but there was an obvious phantom pass interference call called earlier in the game that sustained a Packer drive leading to a touchdown. Don't think Packer fans will argue about THAT call but what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. And the loss of that touchdown give the Seahawks a 7-6 victory too.

  • Ravens Run Home - 12 years ago

Fjord83... nice try but I have it taped also and one, Tate never removed his right hand and two, it "astounds" me that all these NFL analysts refuse to say anything about Tate's left hand which was also always on the ball and preventing Jennings from truly "bringing it in"... it's like Tate's left hand and arm have magically disappeared.

With that said, the officiating was & is awful and I can't wait for the "real" refs to come back. But lest we forget, if the "real" refs were so perfect, why did we have to get instant replay a few years back?

  • Fjord83 - 12 years ago

@ Ravens Run Home Tate removed his hand while Jennings had possession. While Tate's RIGHT hand was off the ball Jennings still had controll of the football and his feet touched the ground inbounds in the endzone. That is clearly an interception. Watch the play again. I have it recorded on my DVR and you are absolutely wrong. I've watched it over and over. It was 100% an interception, NOT a simutanious possession. Not to mention EVERY NFL analyst is saying the same thing. YOU are NOT a true fan, but that's OK, cause you're one of the few fans the NFL has left now, you can have that crap game until the real refs come back.

  • Glasmo - 12 years ago

I'm astounded by the 10% of people that claim it was a correct call, but I'm scratching my head by the 7% of those that answer "Not Sure". Why even answer an online poll if you're not sure?

  • Ravens Run Home - 12 years ago

Anyone who voted NO is not a true football fan. Tate's left arm was between Jennings chest and the ball.

At the time both players landed on the ground, equal possession. Jennings rightly did not "get" the interception simply by then rolling over on his back.

    TD Seahawks.

  • RW - 12 years ago

I'm a Seahawks fan and I know that was an interception. During the review I was sure that the refs would overturn the call and was shocked when they didn't. I'll take the W but it certainly wasn't earned.

  • Fjord83 - 12 years ago

Anyone who voted yes is NOT a true football fan, and their either fans of Seattle or hate the Packers. Personally, I hate the Steelers, but even I can enjoy watching them win when it's a good game and well played. Their game was screwed by the refs, along with the Pats/Ravens game, and the Pack/Hawks game. These refs need to go, and I will no longer be watching the NFL until that happens.

  • Josh - 12 years ago

Last call was a joke. Between the offensive pass interference and the interception. Just livid. I find it pathetic Tate thought he caught it. Didn't know that receivers could have no position of the football other than one hand on it and get called a touchdown, especially when the defensive player has full possession.

  • Dan Rhodes - 12 years ago

There was definately offensive interference on Tate when he shoved Shields out of the way to to go up for the pass; it was very clear on that point. Also, it was clear that Jennings had both hands on the ball and against his chest all the way to the ground; noway was that a catch by Tate.

  • TCJC - 12 years ago

Hard to see how anyone could objectively see this as not being an interception but wonders never cease. There were a lot of bad calls all weekend and a lot of flags period. BTW if I were a Seahawk player like golden boy, I would just keep my mouth shut and be happy for the gift.

  • mBarto - 12 years ago

Here is the recipe for the NFL perfect blunder: blind officiating + anything goes, mix well with dishonesty = no integrity! May we have another slice, please?

  • Ravens Run Home - 12 years ago

I can't stand either team, and I know most every here is going to immediately disagree, but I think the Refs made the right call..... albeit for the wrong reasons (and Yes, they totally missed the blatant O.P.I. by Tate - but hey, that's tradition for a Hail Mary anyway).

First off, Tate had TWO hands on the ball - one between Jennings chest and the ball and the other on the outside. Thus, the argument that Jennings had the ball against his chest is totally bogus - Tate's arm was in between. Second, when Tate landed on his back and Jennings landed on top of him, BOTH players had equal control... and the play was immediately OVER - joint possestion to Tate.

Everyone focusing on the next second or so when Jennings rolled over on his back to earn "more contorl" all miss a key point - the play was ALREADY over. Likewise, the argument that you can't then wrest away control acutally works against Jennings in this situation.

    Game over - TD Seahawks

  • Kathy - 12 years ago

Um, some have forgotten that ONE ref got it right: no touchdown. However, there should have been a flag on the play for the pushing, but NO. As far as the Superbowl game, stop whining....geeze

  • JP - 12 years ago

First of all, it was pass interference on Tate, he pushed off. Jennings clearing had the ball against his chest with Tate's two hands on the ball, while they were in the air. On their way down to the ground, one of Tate's hands was off the ball and one on the ball, that is not possession. The ball was still on Jennings chest with his arms & hands wrapped around the ball, that is possession. When they hit the ground Jennings still had the same position on the ball, while Tate reach in with his loose hand and they wrestled for the ball. Refs called T.D. NFL Rule supports a interception.

  • BMW_Bike - 12 years ago

the players should support the refs and refuse to cross picket lines. What ever happened to Solidarity? They are a bunch of cowardly scabs who's inaction support the owners and promote crappy football.

  • EricL - 12 years ago

If the haters want to take the win away from Seattle because of bad officiating, I say fine, take this one, but give us back Super Bowl XL.

  • Joni - 12 years ago

Dachs, you are absolutely right. Shame on Pete Carroll and the player that lied. Jennings had the ball, and control of it. Shows the Seahawks for what they are, and how desperate they are to win.

  • TS - 12 years ago

For those of you with short memories, this is karma. The packers last Superbowl run was decided with help from the officials, from the first playoff game to the Superbowl itself. The wheel has come back around and somewhat evened the score. From a pure football point a self proclaimed elite team like the packers should have never been in that position to start with and should be embarrassed by their performance throughout the game.

  • Jackie - 12 years ago

I understand why all the boo hoo coming from the cheese heads. If the tables were turned & it was GB...all this bitchin would not be happening. Even when the Seahawks are playing a great game the sports news guys will say we got lucky. The only thing that would have been sweeter for this win is if it had been the Steelers instead. Sorry still sore for all the bad calls made at the Superbowl-The one that Bad calls were made againist the Seahawks & the steelers won :(

  • Boog - 12 years ago

Who had possession or whether both had possession is a moot point! Replay CLEARLY shows BLATANT OFFENSIVE pass interference by Tate when he shoved a GB player in the back to keep him from leaping for the ball! (and I'm not a GB or a SS fan).

  • Jodie - 12 years ago

I am a Bears fan through and through, which means I have a deep seeded hate for the Packers. Even I know that the Packers should have won that game. Ridiculous officiating. Pretty soon the games will last 5-6 hours. Get over yourself, Goodell!

  • Lubelessinseattle - 12 years ago

I can’t (yet) put the total blame on the officials?
They have been thrown into a situation that they couldn’t control.
They were obviously officiating at the level of there competence and had to step up to allow the games to be played.

I absolutely cannot believe Pete Carroll!! Professional??? Coach??? WAH
    (GB Fan)

  • Moshulu - 12 years ago

It's like "bounty gate," football is a game where they will do ANYTHING to win, to include putting out financial rewards for hits on certain guys, to accepting this as a win, a desperate move, regardless whether it's legal, or moral.

  • Emily - 12 years ago

One of the worst calls I've ever seen. Not only did the Seahawk player obviously push-off, but then you can see in the replay that Jennings had the ball, and the Seahawk didn't have the ball until he wrestled with him and grabbed it out of his hands after Jennings was already down and on the ground. But of course the ref only saw the very end... and was apparently dozing in the replay booth... because he let the play stand.

What's it going to take before actions are taken to fix things? Does someone have to die because players are trying to get away with more and more on the field while refs look the other way?

While I'm all for more accountability for the regular refs to do a good job (because face it a fine afterwards doesn't mean squat to the teams who get effected by the bad call), it's become rather obvious that owners and the NFL don't give a damn about the health and safety of their players if they continue to let this go on.

  • JOAN - 12 years ago

I am a Packer fan. It is such a shame that our players put their lives on the line week after week depending on fair officating to prevent injury. But in this case, they played their hearts out only to loose because of bad referrees. It is no longer a sport. It is too bad money has become the main issue over the fairness of the game. I have lost all respect for the NFL and
Roger Goodell. Packers I support you all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO PACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • c.carlson - 12 years ago

Nothing was said when Seattle was cheated out of the Super Bowl by three bad calls from the official referees

  • angeldove - 12 years ago

packers should of won bad call

  • GregG - 12 years ago

When I freeze the frame at the height off the catch I see 4 hands on the ball, 2 of the defenders and 2 of the receivers. If the tie goes to the offense then the ruling stands.

  • brian w - 12 years ago

then don't go to the games...don't watch on tv...don't listen on the radio....don't buy the apparel...don't bet on the games....leave it alone, take it out of your life.... See how they run....

  • James Zintz - 12 years ago

I'm glad that I gave up my season tickets to the Seachickens, at $300.00 a game, I really don't want to watch the refs determine the game. Sooooooooo many bad calls. Boycot the NFL until we get the pro refs back.

  • Dachs - 12 years ago

Laying aside the insane call by the refs which gave Seattle a win, when infact they actually lost, this is a matter of sportsmanship for me. If you consider the comments of the Seattle coach and the Seattle player who says he caught the ball, it makes me nauseated. It is obvious to the Seattle coach and player that for them, it's winning no matter what. Chances are they will look at the replay and still insist they won the game legitimately, and they'll probably go to bed tonight and sleep well.

Well, what goes around, comes around, and it's only a matter of time before something will bite the coach and player in the a$$.

Hold your heads high Green Bay. You didn't play a great game, but it comes down to who has the most points when the clock hits zero, and it's clear that you won the game to everyone except the Seattle coach, the Seattle player who lied and said he caught the ball, and the Seattle fans who will put their blinders on and place their fingers in their ears so they don't have see or listen to the truth.

  • Mark C - 12 years ago

I think it is time to boycott. Very bad call. Packers should get the win.

  • JB - 12 years ago

Blown call, yes. Only one, NO! Actually, the GB TD drive was kept alive by a phantom call. Even if the final play was called correctly, GB would have won the game on a controversial call that no one is talking about. Bad officiating all around, and these refs are determining outcome of games. We need pros back now!

  • skinny - 12 years ago

these guys are jr.high football officials! Just watch the vikings game thats enough proof besides this play......these guys, are out of position, there old, there making calls not in there area.....its a joke....nice job roger g.....i wonder how much these stiffs are getting paid....

  • Carol Wilson - 12 years ago

Jennings had full control and possesion of that ball, I can't see how some one like Tate would even try to pull that, except for the fact that he's being coached by Pete Carroll, and the Refs really did screw that one up bad.

  • HolyBlitzer - 12 years ago

There are many things wrong with Pro Football it is too violent and the players are not only skilled players. Each team has its share of hoods whose own reason is to hurt an opposition player instead of playing the game, within reasonable rules, to win the game. Regarding this incident not one official was positioned near the play, both about 12 yards away. After the two officials arrived simultaneously Official #26 immediately made the call. The other official #84 made the right call by indicating the play was over and an automatic time out called allowing for review with the responsible officials on the field, and above if that is the procedure. Now, the play was sent "upstairs" for review. If I understand it correctly they are responsible for the final call. If not, then why even call them for review if they haven't the final say. The video clearly indicates that Green Bay player intercepted the ball, had possession of the ball by catching it and bringing it to his chest. Interception...game over. I blame the Review Team for the ultimate debacle. Further the game was a total disgrace, every play there was a flag. A good many were stupid. One egregious call was when the Seattle QB was tackled on a continuous play as he was being chased. He wasn't mauled at the chest or head or piled on. He was tackled, you know the old fashion way, arms around his legs. The field judge was right there and called it roughing the passer...the penalty call was outrages. It is obvious that there are major issues to be solved and I don't honestly believe it is all the temp officials who are the major cause. I believe the game has gotten too violent. Frankly, it is no longer an enjoyable way to spend Sunday afternoon. Just as baseball has lost much of its allure, so will football and a whole pile of money will be lost. I will continue to watch because I have weekly betting interests, but that too will pass. It was no fun watching the debacle on Monday.

  • Twodogsloving - 12 years ago

I believe the older official who ran up from the sideline saw the ball held firmly by Jennings then asked the other official if it was a clean catch, but was confused on which team was offense and which was defense at that point when he signaled a touchdown. At some point he must have realized his mistake but didn't have the nerve to go back and correct it, maybe he thought the replay booth official would overrule it.

Whatever the differences are between the striking refs and the NFL, this should be the final piece of evidence that shows just how valuable the striking refs really are. There have been numerous incidents leading up to this that weren't as blatantly wrong, but this should really change things, assuming the NFL's people have brains enough to finally see the light.

  • squeak bigboy - 12 years ago

This was suppose to be PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL played, officiated, and coached by professionals. We know all about the refs! the players are the greatest athletes in the world, but this Coach Carroll from Seattle defies description. If your going to be a professional coach in a professional football league then you should behave like one. Everything I saw last night made me sick! if your going to win a professional football game and actually act like you really won it then I have no respect for you as a coach or a honest man! His team benefited from terrible calls all night and he knows it but he's giving us the stupid, or ignorant act. No your team does not deserve this win! your actually living a false dream! and I will bet your team is not around at the end of the year for the playoffs! As for the refs send them back to the poor college conferences that they come from, I pity that conference! Shame on the NFL AND THE OWNERS, MAYBE THE FANS SHOULD BOYCOTT THIS SUNDAYS GAME AND HIT THE OWNERS AND THE NFL WHERE IT HURTS THEIR WALLETS!!!!

  • Sean - 12 years ago

Very Sad!! Official standing at the goal line watching this entire play should be fired! Not to have called Tate for blantant offensive pass interference with the two hand push off, caused this entire issue. If he had thrown his flag then it wouldn't even matter who caught the ball - which by the way in my opinion (and it seems over 80% of the other NFL fans that are not for Seattle) was clearly an interception and should have given the win to Green Bay.

  • FRANK - 12 years ago

Clearly the boat has been missed here. This really belongs to the players as well, when they were on strike and locked out , would it had been alright to send in replacement players??? I think not. refiuse to take the feild until they settle this. Clearly this whole season has been fouled and tainted! The players are risk of injury and the league knows this, but dont care It seems it is alright as long as the mistakes benifit you, Like asking Tate if he pushed off, not only has he seen the replay and knows he did on film he proved himself to be a liar as well. so much for fair play, nice going

  • DJ - 12 years ago

Clearly offensive Pass interference!!! How could you miss that??????????????????

  • KLMP - 12 years ago

There is a photo that proves Jennings and only Jennings had the ball, Tate didn't even have a hand on it. However, to be fair, this game could have gone either way at any time because of the multiple bad calls. Time to give our true Refs what they want and get them back in the game. Not that they can't make bad calls either but this has gotten ridiculous and DANGEROUS!!!

  • dENNIS - 12 years ago

New lesson for end-of-game situtations! Flip the friggin ball outta the end zone instead of catching and risking a simultaneous-catch call. When Packers end the season, this call will be brought up again and everyone will ask where they would have finished with one more win. Pathetic that a win becomes a loss because of incompetent refs. Even a good HS ref wud have seen all of that: pass interference, defensive catch followed by ball grab by offense. Defense had 95 % of the ball from the beginning.

  • Sal Caro - 12 years ago

The NFL used to stand for playing the game of football to the highest standards possible. A game played by professionals, run by professionals and officiated by professionals. Sadly, that no longer appears to be the case. If Pete Carroll believes that his team truly won the game, then I have to question the man’s ethics.

  • Ronald - 12 years ago

Pete Carrol comments after the game are in-line with his character. Ask the USC fans who he left holding the bag after he ran off with there money.

  • Patti - 12 years ago

What a horrendous game! The replacement officials are pathetic! The college officials put the NFL replacement officials to shame! Shame on the NFL for allowing this to happen. This was probably the worst game so far this season with the officials blowing so many calls. Clearly, this was a GB Win. Pete Carroll and his team look like idiots agreeing with the call.

  • Terry Bradford - 12 years ago

It was very clearly an interception and what I cannot believe is that they let the call stand after the review. And that is not the only way Green Bay got screwed. Then there was the block in the back before the catch and the very very bad pass interference call.

One would almost think these refs were paid off to make sure Seattle won, it was that bad.

And don't give me the crap about all the penalties against Seattle. The players were trying to get away with a bunch of crap because the replacement refs and they just got caught more than they wanted to get caught.

  • DaleW - 12 years ago

While I love to watch football, the incredibly incompetent officiating has made it painful to watch games. The calls are nothing short of bizarre and the long conferences required to administer each call or reviewed play destroys the flow of the game. If only they'd get right after so much talk! The NFL will be happy as long as we keep watching. Fans need to organize a boycott and not watch or attend games one Sunday. That's the only thing that will get the NFL's attention. Let them know that the game is not entertaining at this point.

  • slick539 - 12 years ago

As much as I wanted to see Seattle win, the last play was definitely an interception by Green Bay. The ball was in the Green Bay players arms and cradled next to his body, how much plainer does it have to get?

  • CarlyT - 12 years ago

The whole situation is a good lesson for us all in just how valuable the pro refs truly are. We have had a tendency to dump on them when we don't like their calls. We are witnessing first hand how bad it truly can be. Imagine how respected and revered the refs will be when they finally do come back. It's great that the refs don't even have to plead their case, because the subs are doing it all for them on the field. Though it is tempting to blame the subs, they are not the problem. These poor folks are doing the best they can under impossible circumstances. The problem is the greed of the owners. Give those pro refs whatever they want!

  • Jerry Brown - 12 years ago

This was the worst officiated game i have seen in my life. The fans should be so outraged ,they should not attend another game or watch on TV until the refs are replaced by the owners.Maybe when the owners are hit in the pocketbook by lower gate revenue they will get the message that we the fans deserve to have have competent officials not "SCABS".

  • StuM - 12 years ago

The NFL will crown a super bowl champion in Feb. An * will be needed to explain that the 2012 season's results were in question, because outcomes were changed by terrible calls by inept officials. Stop sugar coating them as "Replacements" and call them what they are - SCABS. They are paid 25% of real officials pay. You get what you pay for! This is an ego trip for the commissioner and/or owners

  • Glenn - 12 years ago

I remember my rage after the 1998 Seahawks/Jets game 14 years ago that cost the Seahawks a playoff spot. If I'm a GB fan I'd be feeling the same way this Seahawks fan felt then. My gut was torn out that day and we couldn't do a damn thing about it because there was no replay that season. That game was instrumental in bringing replay back. Phil Luckett was the head ref then and is an officiating supervisor today. He was also responsible for the botched coin toss. All NFL fans suffer blown calls against their favorite team just like the one last night. My advice to all those whining GB fans and players is to suck it up and use this as a springboard forward to a possible playoff spot and maybe a rematch with my beloved SEAHAWKS. Although the refs didn't see it the way I saw it, it was ruled a TD! Give the win to GB.......after the game is over? Please!!!!!! How about giving JoePa and PSU back their over 100 victories. GO SEAHAWKS! GO PENN STATE!

  • carl wheeler - 12 years ago

We have college football to keep fans happy so i think the pro teams should stop playing and go on strike till they get some worth while refs. it was clearly a interception. i will not watch one pro game for 2012 till this game is overturned.

  • John T - 12 years ago

For many years I was a dedicated professional baseball fan, as well as football. In 1994, baseball went on strike and spoiled the spirit of the game. Since then, I and many other people have paid little attention to baseball. Now football may be on the verge of doing the same thing. The owners had better get their acts together, fast!

  • CJM - 12 years ago

Forget the catch!!! The offensive interference ends the game period!!!!

  • Terry - 12 years ago

It's quite apparent to me that the official in the booth(representatives of MANAGEMENT) have been told to err on the side of not overturning on field decisions when they can in order to tow the company line that the substitute officials are doing a fine job. What a farce!

  • James Borst - 12 years ago

Due to the farce in Seattle on Monday night I'm boycotting the NFL until further notice. I'm also telling every network and every advertiser what I'm doing too. Tell the NFL to fix this mess!

  • TJD - 12 years ago

Nobody on ESPN ever looked in slow motion on where Tate's left hand is through-out the whole sequence. I believe he had it on the ball the whole time and simultaneous - So CORRECT call.

  • Lila Ann - 12 years ago

Wow i USED to like the SEAHAWKS (And mind u i am a die hard COWBOYS FAN) However "I WILL GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE THEY WHIPPED US BEAT US FAIR AND SQUARE. AGAIN HOWEVER I DESPISE GOLDEN TATE FOR WHAT HE DID TO SEAN LEE (DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY PLAYER) I can't believe how TATE can deny & lie with a straight face that he pushed off with 2 hands a PASS INTERFERANCE that was not called before this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone knows that this WIN rightfully belongs to the PACKERS. What disgust me more is PETE CARROLL prancing around like a CLASSLESS child!!! How can the SEAHAWKS ACCEPT THIS WIN boggles my mind i am still in SHOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Carl - 12 years ago

I have seen good and bad calls, and most do have an in-pack on the out-come of the game. The call was made, and live with it. We still talk about OJ, did he kill her. The call was no. Do I think he did, yes. But I go with the call. It can't be changed and I live with that, and moved on. We should all try to do our best, and we all will miss a call here and there. It's called life, so live with it. Don't die in the past. If you want all call to be right; make them all reviewable with no limit red flagging.

  • Terry - 12 years ago

That the cheephawks can even accept this shows what a class act they r not to mention their coach no pro's in that town

  • Bill - 12 years ago

I am not so sure how BAD the call was..... joint posesion in the end zone typically goes to the Offense...I guess we will never know what the ref saw when he made the call. As a Seattle Fan I was in wonderment how we got the call because we normally do not get them. Here are the facts. the officiating was equally bad to both teams....The NFL MVP was sacked 8 times....Seattles defense was awesome save for a few plays. When the refs STOLE the Superbowl from Seattle and gave it to Steelers many of us were EXTREMELY dissapointed however we realized that Seahawks did not do enough PRIOR to those BS calls to be able to absorb them and win....As is the case with Green Bay tonight....they simply didnt do enough. Do I want regular refs back...of course, but from experience I will say...SUCK IT UP GREEN BAY, the refs didnt steal your SUPERBOWL...BTW I DO feel yer pain

Posting this poll is about as disgusting as that call. An insult on your readers intelligence.

  • george manzuk - 12 years ago

the point is where does it start. the packers were able to continue down field for a touchdown on a ridiculous pass interference call. why isn't anyone talking about that?
how can anyone ever forget the super bowl handed to pittsburg and the debacle by the so called great refs?!!!

as far as touchdown call goes, i have watched the replay dozens of times. there is no question that tate had both hands on the ball simultaneously with jennings although jennings certainly appeared to have better control. however, the ref came running up just as both fell to the ground and at that point it seems to me that tate had a pretty good hold on the ball. otherwise, why would jennings, which can easily be seen, have to make a body turn while wrenching the ball completely into his possession.

    go pats!

  • chas - 12 years ago

bad call, even A cowboys fan knows this is going to get worse. . .sorry GB

  • RobertE - 12 years ago

Two officials run up to the pile, look in and give conflicting signals. The one whom was correct was over-ruled on the field by ? The instant replay official blew many of his opportunities during the game. Thank you so much Mr. Goodell for wasting your time covering your a$$ instead of handling the officials. And yes, the Seattle football fans now know what they have as a head coach.

That was the worst officiated game I ever witnessed in the NFL. The commissioner should reverse the final call to save the integrity of the game. So goes our country to socialism, so goes the NFL to liberal interpretation of the rules. The ref had to be a democrat. Sad day for America.

  • Acflcommie - 12 years ago

Everybody wants the refs fired, but this call probably was not even as influential as the blown call against the seahawks in the superbowl. That might have cost not one game, but the championship! What happened to that ref? Nothing! And that's what the NFL is fighting for in their new agreement. Accountability! Support the NFL in making everybody (not just the players and coaches) accountable for their mistakes. Everybody makes them and you shouldn't be fired for one, but this should be the best of the best and sometimes you aren't the best anymore. Just ask the players who get cut.

  • Colin Sanderson - 12 years ago

Seahawks fan here....... That was a bad call. But no worse than bill leavy or mark hitner in super bowl 40.

  • Steve - 12 years ago

I am a Packers fan and Owner. I think that if this had to happen it happened to the right game!!! I am calling for all of the Hundreds of thousands of Packers owners to protest the outcome of this game. They can threaten all the other 31 teams owners in not complaining about these refs but they can't threaten us Packers owners!!!

  • gbp13gbp13 - 12 years ago

Enough talk time for action... Where are my fellow union brothers coming out and protecting these replacement refs? All union should come together this weekend and show our support not just for our union brothers who are locked out but also our brothers who have to work under these conditions............

Honestly, anyone who has eyes and a brain knows that was a horrible call and the Packers should've won the game. Those who voted, "not sure" or that Tate came down with the ball clearly don't understand the rules of professional football, and probably aren't even old enough to be voting. Even as a Seahawks fan, I am embarrassed that Roger Goodell and the NFL would allow this to happen. He and the organization should be ashamed of themselves for tainting the integrity of the game. Shame on you Goodell. And shame on these refs for making the wrong call. I also have a problem with Pete Carroll's fake obliviousness to the seriousness of the situation in his postgame interview. Do you really want that kinda of call to happen to us? Seriously? Be a man and call it what it was, a bad call that handed you a win you didn't deserve. This is a sad day for the NFL and a sad day for real professional football fans that believe in integrity and fairness regardless of which team wins.

  • AndyF - 12 years ago

That was the strangest game I have ever watched. These officials shouldn't be allowed to referee a peewee football game let alone an NFL game.

  • Mac Martin - 12 years ago

The only people voting no are Packer fans. While the last play was questionable, so were many of the 15 plus penalties on the Seahawks (I am a Dolphin fan by the way)> I remember all the Pittsburg fans telling the Seahawk fans to shut up in the past Super Bowl they played and the Referee that game was from Pittsburgh. Maybe it is karma. I am tired of seeing the same old teams win all the time and them getting the breaks. Why not have a Super Bowl with a KC, Buffalo, or yes a Seattle. The Packers have themselves to blame. Maybe they should learn how to keep rushers off of Rodgers.. Go Dolphins!!!!

  • Rocky - 12 years ago

Seahawks have been screwed over by bad calls plenty of times. It's all a part of the game.

  • tomh4023 - 12 years ago

Roger Goodall, the fans deserve better than this! If you value us as fans you will reverse the outcome of this game and this is a Seehawk fan talking!

  • Chris - 12 years ago

I hate the Green Bay Packers with all of my being. I hate them down to a cellular level; every strand of DNA in my body has "Green Bay Sucks" hard-coded into it.

Despite this, even I will acknowledge that the Packers got hosed by a terrible call tonight. It's not possible for an officiating crew to botch a game any worse than they did with this game tonight. The fact that the NFL is sticking to its guns with this referee lockout is despicable.

If the NFL doesn't have the regular refs on the field by next weekend, and these officials make another round of poor calls, I'll be done watching football for the year.

  • Seattle Fan - 12 years ago

I'm a Seahawks fan, live in the area and really hate GB, especially after loosing a playoff game quite a few years back due to back officiating. Regardless - that was first pass interference (by Tate of Seattle) then an interception by GB - and the earlier play 4th quarter long gain was offensive pass interference (by Seattle) not by GB. A travesty of a win (I'm ashamed to call it that)

  • jeff - 12 years ago

What a joke. I'm pretty sure this is dream because no billion dollar business would actually let this result stand. Travesty. Goodbye watching NFL games, think I'll watch soccer now. At least you expect shady results when you watch soccer.

  • Billy Boy - 12 years ago

Yes, Jennings intercepted the ball. He had it. But, even more amazing is this... There was a most obvious offensive interference by the call that caught the ball. He seriously pushed off (and I mean blatantly) the defender which allowed him to even have a chance at it. Isn't anybody even talking about this obvious offensive pass interference? How can they miss that in the review booth! That was obvious (go look back at it) and I have no idea how it can be missed in the replay booth. I'm pretty astounded. GB really did win this ball game. And now we finally have a game where the replacement refs literally blew it so bad that THEY cost GB the ball game. This particular game should be reversed by the commissioner, or the NFL Rules Committee or something. Isn't there a "game being played under protest" system just like baseball. In baseball the umps get together to make sure they get the call right. This call tonight is a huge blow to the integrity of the NFL. It's really that bad. Millions of American watched this live and saw this tonight. If there's a way, the final score of this game needs to be overturned to protect the integrity of the game! Really, it's that bad!

  • Brian Wherler - 12 years ago

You can't change the call because you can't see the ball only arms. But this game had lots of bad calls. The packers scored a TD because of a pass interference call on third down. People also need to blame the owners not Goodell. He works for the owners. On to week 4.

  • Mychair - 12 years ago

I am so pleased with the outcome. Packers get the int and I would have lost in fantasy this week!

  • BigGameBooBoo - 12 years ago

Call me crazy, but the NFL is more fun this year than any I can remember!! Mayhem!! I love it!

  • Mike Goff - 12 years ago

As fans we should turn off our HDTV sets this weekend and show the NFL where the bear
sh---s in the woods. We spend too much money as fans on this sport and their (NFL) greed is outrageous! We should strike ! do our own blackout and show this monster we won't stand for this bullsh-t. GET THE REAL REF'S on the field pay them you S.O.B.s

  • Blind Pyoo - 12 years ago

I won't be watching any more NFL this year because the players don't matter any more. The offiicating did the same thing to basketball - I haven't seen a game in years. Too bad, I used like watching football.

  • Bill - 12 years ago

I live in Seattle and dislike GB immensly. However, the officiating of this game was the worst garbage I have ever witnessed. The Pass Interference on the last Seattle drive and the subsequent TD was a farce to fans of football. GB out and out won this game. For Pete Carroll to go prancing around like that is an embarrassment to the Seahawks organization. Pete Carroll is obviously a win at any cost coach; is it any wonder that Reggie Bush happened on his watch at USC.

  • willie dennis kitchens - 12 years ago

That the true reason that this world is fucked up now! George Bush stole the election with His Florida Votes! "Family Oriented" we overlooked it now we are over looking this SHIT and I'm not a Packers Fan! Bullshit Kids watched this game!!! Here's your Bounty evidence Commisioner Give the Packers the Win!!! GOD do the right thing!! Come on Man!

  • Maureen - 12 years ago

Once again, the Packers are a class act. I already contacted my cable provider, the NFL and ESPN. I urge others to do so. If my job review was done by these "refs" with no one (NFL) responsible for watching over the "calls", I would be out of a job.

  • Tom S - 12 years ago

The NFL is now professional westling. If you want to add any sort of credibility to the game, then this final call of the Packer/Seahawk game needs to be reversed. Everyone knows the Packers won this game.
