Datsyuk remains a leader by example, and trading away our veteran core players will not only hurt the young stars who will come in over the next 3 years, but it will deprive them of the legacy of the Red Wings in a way. Datsyuk has played with Fedorov, Lidstrom, Yzerman, and he himself fits into that list. To trade him away would be to trade one of the greatest parts of Red Wings history. And conversely set up another team with a player of the highest caliber, and the highest off ice character, as well as all the experience necessary for a player to usher in a new guard and set them up to carry over a teams tradition.
Now if we were to get an outrageous offer like, Pavel Datsyuk for Jonathan Quick/Pekka Rinne, Shea Weber, Rick Nash, and a few top prospects... then its something to think about right... but no team would ever offer that. And so the answer remains NO.

Remember that feeling in your gut when you heard the news that Barry wasn't coming back? That's what it would be all over again!

I hate you for writing this. He's the greatest player to ever put skates on, period. There will never be another player like him with his skill set. Only people who truly know hockey, can truly see what he does every game. Both sides of the ice. I hate you

In my opinion loyalty is what has kept the Redwings good for so long. They are the only team in all of professional sports that places a premium on keeping their great players (role players can be great too) in Hockeytown for life. To trade Datsyuk now would hurt our young core of players. Datsyuk had a lot of all-time greats to teach how to play the game at the professional level. With a diminished skill set, Datsyuk can still help usher in the new guard.

Would you trade Gordie, Stevie or Nick? Never, never, never!!!! The same applies for Pavel.
Never.

The wings are a desirable and class act organization specifically because they don't make cut throat numbers only decisions like that.
Team Morale, a players personality and leadership are equal to or greater than the number of goals a guy scores.

You wasted a lot of time writing an article like this. Shoulda known to stay clear once you heard "Maple Leafs Fan." When is the last time they had a winning season? Thats what I thought.
This is interesting, but basically, NO.
