I agree with JHA - do you want to be horribly scarred or die? If you come off and are wearing t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms etc, then if you are incredibly lucky not to die then you willbe scarred for life and will probably never walk again. Protective gear saves lives. Don't forget car and truck drivers are alreay protected by their vehicles outer shell, so when they hit you because they don't look properly they don't die!

This is crazy, have any of you slid down a tarmac road? Also I think Hi-viz jackets should be compulsory, ".....sorry mate I didn't see you." being the most common excuse for those in cars and trucks hitting bikes. I've been riding bikes for 35 years and I am absolutely convinced that protective clothing is a must on a bike. Seeing people in shorts and a t-shirt this summer made my blood run cold, come on people wake up to the danger!
