I live in Bay Minette and I have to say that Kandies By Karen beats all of these chain cupcake places BY FAR! She's been open for about four years and alot of people don't know about her... All of her treats are just the bomb and she's sweet, too. I think that most of the people voting have only tried one or two places on the list, so how could they say that those cupcakes are better? That's just my opinion, the other places have great cupcakes too, I'm just a Kandies by Karen fan and always will be! If you're ever in Bay Minette, you should stop in and see if your favorite will change... (:

I think you should still consider Something Sweet Bake shop in Daphne. They aren't on the list, and you can only vote if you use an email. The other shop have people voting multiple times, because all they have to do is click. One person on their FB said they voted over 30 times. Something Sweet is locally owned, and the owners are the bakers!!! They have the BEST cupcakes around!!! PLEASE give them a taste!!!!!!

I am affiliated with one of these shops, and it is not Twist, but for the record, I do NOT believe that they use mixes. Also, ALL of these shop owners are people with feelings. They all work hard to put out a product that they believe in. Some customers may prefer one style/taste to another. To each his own. The beauty of America is that you can choose what YOUR preference is. You have the freedom to support the business that you prefer, but lets not bash each other.

Flour Girls is addictive and I have been happily hooked for about a year. I find myself substituting meals for a cupcake. I have to drive pass with my eyes closed in order to Detox. I admit, being a sucker for cupcakes, I have cheated and visited other spots in Mobile. Yeah, some may be prettier with all the fru fru designs, but when it comes to taste, none come close.

I seriously doubt Solel that Flour Girls and Twist use boxed cake mixes for all of their cupcakes, nor would you personally know that they use that or shortcuts. Gigi's would be the only one that I would assume probably does that because they are a franchise of a national chain and even then I believe their cupcakes taste better than Simply Sweet (who needs to add some salt to their recipes to offset the sugar).

Simply Sweet is the BEST! They actually make their cupcakes from scratch with quality ingredients - while Flour Girls and Twist both use a boxed cake mix and plenty of shortcuts! Not to mention the shop is beautiful and the owners are super sweet!

Flour Girls Bakery in Mobile has a filling that is absolutely addictive! If you haven't tried Flour Girls, you are truly missing out!!!
Bakies in East Brewton, Al has the very best red velvet cupcake you will EVER be honored to consume. I don't know how she does it but after one of her red velvet's, you will be ruined for the rest of your life for another. Sad, but true.

You have to try the cupcakes at Annalyce's Bake Shop on Highway 280 just southeast of Birmingham. They are incredible ... best we've ever eaten in a long, long time ... especially the red velvet! Absolutely delicious!!!!
