I watch it by myself but I don't really care who knows, well maybe a few people shouldn't know :P

  • nescretro - 12 years ago

hah... back when the show was rather new, only about 9 episodes out for season 1 or so, I was in a lecture hall at college, got bored, said "BUCK IT" opened laptop, and watched ponies. everyone behind me was probably quite confused.

  • pXIDUV - 12 years ago

    Alone in the open.

  • Bronwyn - 12 years ago

Watch it anywhere, but nobody cares around me 'cause I'm a girl so whatever. :P

  • Joffenater - 12 years ago

Normally I watch the show on my own but I wouldn't call myself a "closet brony". I can count three instances in which I watched it with someone else. Count the first: my brother, an open brony, hadn't seen s2 e25/26. I nagged at him and eventually we watched it together.

The second time: for a while I had been showing one of my friends pony stuff. *cough* fluttershy-bear incident *cough* Half-way through on of the videos he said - "this show's fucked up". I knew then to make my move and we struck a deal. I would show him "A Canterlot Wedding (Part 2)" and he would show me a powerpuff girls episode.

The last time: I was on the way home from mini-golf with a different friend and his family was discussing TV shows. At one point I said "My little pony's better" then asked my friend's sister to get Youtube up on her phone and showed her the beginning of "Luna Eclipsed".

  • Dostorted - 12 years ago

    Other.
I watch it on YouTube with my sister, either in the living room or in the bedroom at the evening.

  • Zormau - 12 years ago

I put "other" because I usually watch it at home on my widescreen TV with my fiancée, but actually wouldn't care about who finds out and who doesn't. I just don't feel the need to inform anyone. It's nothing that anybody who doesn't ask needs to know. I'm not a missionary.

  • T - 12 years ago

Other: With my very special somepony. :)

  • Marioland - 12 years ago

Other. I watch it either alone on Youtube, or with my brother.

  • Mrfulp - 12 years ago

I watch it as i would watch any other tv show!

Youd think its a big deal but pony has become so main stream that everyone i know knows what it is and they really dont care.

Heck, people who didnt know I was a brony are coming up to me like "Have you seen that cartoon show about those ponies that are all over the internet and news? Its actually pretty good!"

  • MadPonyWithABox - 12 years ago

I typically watch it in my room, alone, but I don't particularly care who knows I watch ponies. I'm pretty out with it. I actually think it hurts the pony cause at my college, since I'm gay, so people associate ponies with gayness.

  • 'Other' - 12 years ago

I watch it in my room, alone because I have "no friends" to watch it with.

  • Silly Filly - 12 years ago

When I was in the hospital I made everyone watch MLP :P In the communal room with the TV

  • PIRATE CAPTAIN III - 12 years ago

I would gladly watch with others but the thing is, all of the bronies in my area are closest bronies. So I get Mindanao forced into this.

  • Shade - 12 years ago

With a nice, hot cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows and chocolate chips. Just... the best.

  • PsychoEd - 12 years ago

I watch my little pony often alone, not that i wouldnt love to watch with a friend who is interested. they are never around to watch with me though. im just lucky to be able to have like 12 other brony friends

  • StarDust - 12 years ago

Other I guess? I don't watch it alone, my siblings love it too and we always watch together. I really don't care who sees me so I'd watch it in public or whatever, but the opportunity doesn't often come up.

  • Ezanderi - 12 years ago

Other. not that I really hide it, but other people aren't really interested in what someone sitting in the corner of the room with headphones on laughing like a madman is doing

  • Alzarath - 12 years ago

I usually just watch it alone, I prefer the quiet. Though I've watched it with friends, in public and Other too.

  • theME0WER - 12 years ago

Every Saturday me my brothers and sisters gather around the computer and watch the new episodes like a Boss!

  • Pinstar - 12 years ago

    Other-

Seasons 1 & 2: Online with my buddy Stormfront (Who introduced me to the show), each watching the youtube vid together and commenting on chat.

Seasons 3 and beyond: Watching with my newly converted wife together :) (And then again with my buddy Stormfront; never forget your roots :)

  • zemlyanin - 12 years ago

There are not many options in this poll.

I watch alone. I don't try to hide it, but I don't talk about it either. I have pony wallpaper on both my Linux and Windows installations. No one who has seen recognised.

  • Inspired_Light - 12 years ago

I watch out in the open, and people come to see what I'm laughing so uproariously at.
They then sit down, join me, and leave as Bronies.

  • Chompyzilla - 12 years ago

I picked other. I watch it with my other brony friends when I can, but they are never around; and I always end up watching it in my basement, because my brother hogs the other TV

  • darknessbeholder - 12 years ago

I chose other for about the same reason heimo does. I think this needed more options, because I watch the show by myself, and I don't watch it in the open, but all my friends know I'm a brony. I don't care who knows, but I respect other people's opinions of the show.

  • Heimo - 12 years ago

I simply chose 'other' because I'm watching it whenever I want, yet I still have to keep it down to avoid any possible assholes that still do exist in my school and elsewhere.
I'm watching sometimes with my sister and sometimes with one of my friends who's not a brony but watches the show sometimes when he's bored, so we just randomly watch an episode or two sometimes.

  • Bronysins - 12 years ago

I chose 'other' simply because the 3 choices did not apply. I would watch it with friends, but I've got too much on my crappy 15 yr. old plate to orchestrate things like that.

  • Wesley Gard - 12 years ago

I seriously doubt that most Bronies are open to their love for the show. People are just saying that they are open because they want to look tough compared to other Bronies. >_>

  • vanek - 12 years ago

Hmm, quite few closet bronies out there I see (28% right now)
    Me too bros, me too...
    okay.jpg

  • Jamie - 12 years ago

With my daughter, when they come out. None of the options seem to cover that, and again I find myself wondering if I am really a 'brony'. I watch MLP because I like MLP and always have. I also watch it because I share this love with my 8 year old daughter. You will find few people who love the franchise more, but sometimes, I feel like because I am not a rebellious young male but rather a carefree mother I'm on the outside. This poll seems to only really offer 'shamed and in privacy, like porn' or 'in your face and proud, like'... Well, like I dunno what, because I've never really been in that position. I like what I like, I share it willingly, but don't force it on anyone. :)

  • nathanisbored - 12 years ago

    I voted other.

Kinda hard to say for me because I don't really watch the show as religiously as I assume most people in the fandom do. When I first watched the episodes, season 2 had already started and I just watched them all in one sitting. I had already considered myself a brony for a little while, but I hadn't seen any episodes yet because I had no idea they were all just on Youtube and I don't get the Hub channel. When I finally watched them, I just wanted to understand everyone's appeal toward the show, and I'm still not sure I totally do. Most of the episodes I've only seen once, and when I do watch the new episodes, I'm already alone in my room on the computer most of the time, so it's not really about "I don't care who sees me" or "I must keep this secret", I just watch it casually in my room in the same way I browse forums or look at online content. I'm pretty much on my laptop most of the time anyway. I certainly wouldn't care if someone were around, but they usually aren't. My sister-in-law is a brony, but she's the kind that has been watching MLP since she was little. She tends to geek out about it a lot more than I do, and she's already dragged my brother to a couple of small conventions where they live. So to me, it's just another online community that I'm a part of, it's barely about the show for me (though I do keep up with the episodes every week so I know what's going on in the community). I don't have any IRL friends who are bronies, but I think I accidentally made someone a brony when I was looking at fan art at school and had to explain myself. It's just something I personally enjoy being a part of, not something I really care to share with anyone else, though I don't care if they like it too.

  • Tradley - 12 years ago

...I need to break the habit of hiding everything I do.

  • BillGrey - 12 years ago

"Other". I'm from Chile. And here, we don't have The Hub; we've still got Discovery Kids. MLP is airing here, BUT in spanish (and boy I hate this show in spanish), and still on Season 1. So, I watch ponies on YouTube. Since I've got a laptop, I use to watch it on my own. Or, maybe, with my brother.

Despite that, I don't keep my love for this show to myself. One or two months ago my PC wallpaper was pony, my cellphone wallpaper was pony, my Google Chrome theme was pony, I've got Ponyhoof, my Facebook profile pic was pony, I spent quite an amount of time between EqD and FimFiction, almost ALL of my "bookmarkers" in Chrome were pony-related sites, many of my PC desktop icons were pony..... So, it's not like I try to hide it. I simply don't care, ESPECIALLY on the internet.

However, just like "Nopony", I DO care if somebody's watching over my shoulder. It's quite uncomfortable.

  • Daniel - 12 years ago

I prefer watching it alone, or most prefer watching with someone who will actually enjoy it. I've tried watching it in front of family members, but they have little to no interest in it. So, maybe other/alone.

  • BenHead - 12 years ago

In the open? You could say that.... At home with the wife, sure. On my laptop in a coffee shop, yeah. At my desk at work while having lunch, you bet! (Yes, I use headphones in the latter two where watching any TV might disturb others.) I don't care who knows I like it! :D

  • EggheadDash - 12 years ago

I tend to watch it by myself, but it's not like I'm secretive about it. I'm on EQD all the time, my wallpaper is pony, I wear pony shirts; it's impossible to not know I'm a brony, but I still watch by myself.

  • JdogponyXD - 12 years ago

I have an older brother with whom I watch it with, but that's pretty much it. I'm an open brony, so I don't give a buck who sees me watch it, but I usually watch it at my house anyway.

  • Berlioz - 12 years ago

I responded with "other" since I don't keep it a secret, but I'm also the only one I know that watches the series. My family and RL friends have no interest, and I live alone anyway, so basically I watch the series by myself regardless if I keep it a secret or not.

  • Nopony - 12 years ago

I watch it wherever. I don't really care if others see me watching it. i do however care if people are watching over my shoulder.

  • Air - 12 years ago

I'd say other. I watch it in my room, where the door is usually closed. I watch it on the computer when I'm there alone and on my consoles when my friend comes over and watches it with me.

Okay, CaptainMe93, what? You are here even if you don't have interest in the show? It's like a gamer who doesn't play games or an anime fan who doesn't like anime/manga; It's a crime against nature.

  • Loleus - 12 years ago

Please stop using "buck" as an alternative for "fuck." PLEASE. Applejack begs you to.

  • Matt B. - 12 years ago

I wish there was an option for watching it by yourself that didn't include the dramatic "BECAUSE NO ONE MUST KNOW." No, I don't care if people know. I just don't have any Brony friends IRL who I can watch it with regularly.

  • Frith - 12 years ago

Same as kapuchu. Watching the episodes with other people who are not fans is distracting and a bit stressful, and as such I don't enjoy the episodes as much with other people (non-fans) present. Watching with other fans is a whole different ballgame, but that's rarer than a blue moon.

  • Jordan - 12 years ago

How about an option for "I like to watch it with my family?"

  • CaptainMe93 - 12 years ago

There should have been an option for people who don't watch it. While I'm quite a fan of the products of the fandom, (art, animations, fanfics, games, etc) I really have no interest in watching the show itself.

  • Clubbershy - 12 years ago

[x] In the open no matter who is around, I don't give a buck
When i'm traveling or waiting for the train i watch mlp-fim on my smartphone or notebook and i don't care what others think of me. When i'm home i watch it on my pc or dvd player/console. Also one episode airs everyday on tv aswell. Most people don't know what mlp-fim is anyway where i live... (^_^)

  • SwaglikeSpike - 12 years ago

In the open! I watched the entire first season on my laptop during study hall last year! Got some weird looks at first, but then my whole high school caught on to the trend!

  • Purpletrauma - 12 years ago

Other: I am completely open with my bronydom, but I do virtually everything in the privacy of my own room, so it's not exactly like other people are privvy to what I choose to watch.

  • TCFOO - 12 years ago

Alone in the open. I watch MLP:FiM on the TV in the living room, but I live alone, so there is no one else around to join me or comment on what I am watching.

  • OneBrokePony - 12 years ago

I watch it on a livestream usually, and by myself. Sometimes I write down my reactions to things in the ep in case I feel like writing a review later.

  • kapuchu - 12 years ago

    'Other'

I don't watch it out in the open, but I have nothing against people knowing that I watch it.

If being a Brony taught me one thing, it is to be proud of yourself and just say "I am who I am, deal with it or buck off"
