Rg3 is on a less talented team full of aging vets but he's still getn it in get him a randy moss and a Trent Richards and a Reggie Wayne or bush and watch him blow smoke n further more sprinkle in sum Justin tucks n clay Matthews n Ike Taylor's what a dream team he would have

People making statements about lucks passer rating, what you are forgetting is the high number of dropped passes that are happening by the rookie receivers, that are hitting them right in the chest or hands. Unfortunately those dropped passes hurts his ratings.

If the season ended today, Luck should take it for his leadership and his ability to completely turn a franchise around from one season to the next. However, Martin has had a very solid season as well and if the season ended today he'd be 2nd on my ballot. What will be interesting is how he will produce in the 2nd half of the season when defenses start to plan for him. He's been able to float under the radar so far but now he's close to becoming a household name. RG3 is a close 3rd right now, and only because of his record. If he can somehow lead his team to a winning record and into the playoffs, he might be a shoe-in for the award at the end of the year. Luck and RG3 seem to be well on their way to superstardom regardless of who wins the award this year.. And Martin shows some nice promise but I'm not sold yet that he will be a perennial star like the other two.

Correction to my post doug martin is 2nd in rushing td's... and andrew luck's first season is mediocre

How can you not look at the numbers when it comes to andrew luck... the numbers reflect his performance. As the person's comment below yours states doug martin is definitly more deserving. He's 2nd on rushing yards, 3rd in rushing yards... much better than luck's mid 50's completion percentage... that's medicor at best.

Take focus off the stupid numbers. If you actually watch Andrew Luck play instead of just looking at completion percentage and QB rating, you'd see that he's got a ton of natural talent and ability. I guarantee you if you asked anyone before the season started what they thought the Colts record would be right now, do you think they'd say above .500?

  • Douglas Martinson - 11 years ago

Luck's 56.5 completion percentage puts him at 29th in the league. His 79.0 passer rating is 25th in the league. His 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions are not that impressive. Christian Ponder and Mark Sanchez both also have 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions - and they're not considered elite QBs.

Doug Martin is more impressive: #3 in rushing yards, #2 in rushing TDs, #7 in yards per attempt, and has not lost any fumbles. Just a few other RBs with a number of carries close to Martin's have also not lost any fumbles: Ray Rice, Matt Forte, Arian Foster.

60% of the Colts roster are new to the team---lots of rookies are starting. He has less talent surrounding him than most quarterbacks in the NFL, but he has been able to help elavate the play of his teamates with his play and leadership. The Colts were pick preseason to be number 32. Is there anyone now picking them to be 32nd?
