Only if the book is chock full of pictures like this blog! I think you should include the face gallery/glossary too and include a film with each actor in it. Maybe you could produce a coffee table book?
Awesome idea! Can't wait to see the book in print already :)
Some suggestions: Play with the format a bit -- put in a quiz or two in between chapters. A chapter on Fearless Nadia, one on Dara Singh's B-movies, something on the lesser-known faces we kinda recognize from well-known movies, one on lesser-known movies/roles on well-known stars (Shashi's Hindu fundamentalist turn in Dharmputra, for instance)... Intersperse the chapters with brief interviews with contemporary and old film folk whom you have met, to get a different perspective on some of the movies/stars.
And need I even mention the absolute necessity of having a chapter on Shammi? :)
I think this is a great idea. I could not participate in the poll because you did not have this choice - No, Memsaab is not crazy, this is a great idea.
In order to pick my favourite posts I will need to spend some time, I only hope there is no deadline for the selection. I am a little short of time.
I wish you all the best for the book.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Greta, as a former major publishing company lackey - I mean Developmental Editor - I think U R onto a great nugget of an idea here. Would you like to retain an itinerant editor for very cheap???
Taking vague ideas and nurturing them into viable commercial book/on-line and digital content IS the job that I was doing when I was struck down by that freak M.S. relapse in 1994. At the time I had been developing a book on neuro-radiology with 2 authors who were Professors and high-level muckety-mucks at U.Penn for a series we were calling "Radiology: The Requisites". My attack occurred just as their precious manuscript was leaving my hands and going into production...My poor boss and my poor ex-husband had to hold many OTHER people's hands while I went through that 13-week ordeal and they each had very demanding positions of their own, as well as their own grief and confusion...but I digress!
I'm going to send you the comments my awesome authors Bob and Dave inscribed in my copy of the book when it came out, as well a a rave review of it that a co-worker sent me when said review appeared in a trade journal. You might pick me even if we weren't dear old friends and I wasn't cheap, I mean offering my services for next-to-nothing!
