Do you conduct a pre-pour meeting with the general contractor before an important project?

Someone once said "the devil is in the details" so pre-pour meetings are vital. Even informal meetings for smaller projects.

Mix designs are kept confidential in order to maintain proprietorial content. Producers are trying to differentiate themselves from each other. Much time and research can be required to fabricate a mix design and producers would like to be able to realize a return on their investment.
We try to have pre-job conferences on large projects.

I don 't know where you are located, but as a Special Inspector here in Las Vegas, I make sure that I have a copy of the approved mix design in my hands prior to the placement. If I don't have one and the contractor goes ahead and places the concrete, I issue a Non-Compliance and contact my County inspecgtor and fax a copy to our local Building Official

Why is it that mix designs are kept confidential as we sometimes experiance finishing problems don't what is in the mix.
