Should parents be able to buy alcohol for their children in public, if they are at least 18 years old?

If they serve our country, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to have a beer. What's it gonna hurt. They prodly are doing it anyway, so why not.

If alcohol is ok, then why do groups like AA and Al-Anon even exist??? Alcohol is addictive!! Wake up people!! Go to one of these meetings and see the pain and suffering that alchohol has caused. This is what you want for you and your child?? All drinkers and drug users think that they can handle it, they won't be addicted, that is not the case. Go ahead and promote the destruction of lives and bodies!!

Ohio already provides for this. Why do they leave this out of the story?

    • It is illegal to provide a person under 21 years of age with beer, wine, mixed beverages or spirituous liquor unless accompanied by their spouse, parent(s) or legal guardian(s).

What is wrong with buying them a soda. Why must you you buy them alcohol. I wouldn't want to be a parent who assisted my child who may end up driving drunk and killing someone....or becoming an alcoholic. Why would a parent be proud to buy their child that first drink. These topics probably come from parents who wernt old enough to be parents in the first place. Be parents not friends .

It appears the senator has forgotten the US did lower the drinking age to 18 some years ago. It led to such a large increase in 18-26 year old deaths (mostly auto accidents) that the age was again raised to 21. Most people in the 18-20 year old range are just not mature enough to handle drinking. Mom or Dad buying them drinks is re-enforcing the idea that they should drink even when the parents are not around.

I believe if you are old enough to legally sign papers to die for your country (17 with parental consent), you are old enough to have a beer! Enough said!

Typical of parents today. My child should not have to wait, or want for anything. Drinking at an early age ,can take a stright A student, right to the bottom of the pile. It did'nt take our government to change the law from 19, back to 21. I've cellibrated birthdays of six chidren, never bought any of them drinks. there are better ways to injoy thier company. Does this man need to drink to have conversation with his daughter?

This is already a law in Ohio. You can buy your children alcohol in any restaurant or bar.
