Check out his stats compared to other "elite" QBs since he joined in 2008:

3 more playoff wins than Peyton and Brady combined...

eah, he is and hear,s why. It,s not about winning the big one. It,s about percentages and in that catorgory he,s better then all the rest mentioned, you do the math.

He has been to the playoffs many times, and he is having a great postseason, but u think to be considered elite you need elite stats. So far, flacco doesn't have that, so I'd consider him a solid, not elite, qb.

I think you can include Joe in the elite group. Five years in the league, all five with playoff appearances and at least one win in each. How many other QBs can say they've done that? None. There may be better regular season QBs (for now), but the ultimate goal of a QB is to get his team into the playoffs and on to the Super Bowl. Regular season stats are good for the record books, but mean nothing if you are sitting at home watching the playoffs. Seems to me that Cam Cameron's game plans were so predictable, the other teams looked like they knew what Joe was going to do before he did. Anyone living in Baltimore knows what I mean. Through all that, Joe still did what it took. The sky's the limit for Joe with Jim Caldwell's offense. Go Joe!!! Go Ravens!!

I watched Joe in 2007 w The Blue Hens. He was incredible then and still is. I wonder if the fact that he came from a AA college started the doubt of his true talent.

I've always believed in Joe!!!! Never doubted him once, love you Joe Flacco!!!!

Go get that ring, you deserve it!!!

Good/Great QB = For sure, no question about it. Elite = not quite.

I agree with Gene that he is at the bottom of the ladder but I feel Flacco is still under it. Flacco has yet to climb onto the elite step ladder (not much room on there so it can't be a full size one). I honestly wouldn't even consider him elite after winning a Super Bowl. It takes more than a Super Bowl victory to make a QB Elite. Kurt Warner won a Super Bowl with the Rams, but I never thought of him as Elite. It also takes more than a Pro-Bowl appearance or two. As of right now, current Elite QB's on my list are both Manning brothers and Brady. It stinks for me because 2 of the 3 play on teams on the bottom of my favorites list. I will not acknowledge Flacco as an elite QB untill either he is proven to be better than one of those 3 or one of them retire. And even if one of the 3 would retire, he still has to prove he is deserving of elite status. Would I pick him for a fantasy football team? I would strongly consider it for sure.

All this talk is just to build hype for the Super Bowl. There is no true elite quarterback playing and the story line of Ray Lewis retiring after this season has already ran it's course. Brother vs brother just doesn't build much, so bringing the question up of the quarterbacks being overlooked as being elite is the way to go. It makes people question it and want to watch it more just to see if maybe they have been overlooking one of these quarterbacks as an elite. Honestly, a Super Bowl championship doesn't make someone an elite quarterback... it only makes them a Disney World commercial. A high consistancy at the highest level, that makes someone elite.

Colin Kaepernick will be next super quarterback. That kid is flat out amazing from day 1

  • Steve - 11 years ago

He has yet to display the consistency and escapability to extend the play like the other elite quarterbacks. Fans have been waiting for years for him to develop what Kaepernicke already seems to have.

  • Eddie - 11 years ago

Not yet but no injuries in the future yes

  • kevin - 11 years ago

That patriots defense made him look that way last night. But no he's not elite yet.

  • kamonte Davis - 11 years ago

Peyton has been elite for years without a Superbowl so on that note flacco is elite and if I win the Superbowl proves it

  • Travis - 11 years ago

Nah, Flacco isn't elite. Sure, he is a good player, but the Ravens as a team won that game by demoralizing the Patriots offense. Kaepernich on the other hand, will be increasingly added to the conversation of the elite quarterbacks, especially after the 9ers win the Super Bowl.

Above average – yes. Elite? No.

  • gene - 11 years ago

he has worked his way to the bottom of the elite ladder. i thnk he has earned the title.

  • Jerry - 11 years ago

Big Ben anyone? 3 superbowls and 2 rings...does Payton or Brees have that?

  • Wayne - 11 years ago

"He's just not there yet" means what exactly? He's not watching the playoffs from a sofa like the others you mentioned. Hey we alll know they are all elite. BTW Flacco isn't the new guy to the group either. Payton and Brady are in a class by themselves. The rest of the six are all elite.

  • join - 11 years ago

hey I wouldn't go that far cmon now

  • jkimball - 11 years ago

He is as elite as Trent Dilfer was...

  • john - 11 years ago

stop it... he is not elite yet. he's just under that level. not everyone can be elite. it's for I say the top five. Peyton, Brady, brees, Rodgers, and Eli. sorry but he's just not there yet

  • dean - 11 years ago

Who did Joe beat? Only the best. He has all the tools and knows how to use them. Now the Ravens have an offensive coordinator taking advantage of his talent. Go Ravens......

  • robert welch - 11 years ago

    He's the new BROADWAY JOE.
