Do you think it would be a good idea to possibly change the name of ‘Pioneer Days’?

I think the name is great and wish that the activities followed the theme. We used to have old fashioned kids games at a family picnic on Sunday and other great "Old Fashioned" activities. There was a group a few years ago that tried to bring back some Pioneer type activities and did a good job. People enjoyed it.

You will make a lot people mad if you try to change tradition. You need to get the parade back to what it was by inviting floats to come over. It use to be huge you had major corporations like O Boy Oberto come over with a huge float. You need to go down and ask the Kenny Renfro and his bro to put there family log trucks back in it. It's a lot work for them and they quit doing it because nobody ever appreciated them spending the hours it took to enter the parade. You don't need to change the name to make it like it was just make it like was. That my input.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. To change it now would be to break down all the hard work that has already been put into the recognition of the name 'Pioneer Days.' The event has a good, solid reputation built up over a lot of years through the sweat and determination of a lot of people. I say this not as someone who has ever lifted a finger in volunteer efforts for the event, but as a newspaper reporter---new in town---who was asked to cover the event last year. The assignment was a cakewalk because the mere mention of the two words 'Pioneer Days' had people talking and paying attention.
If you want to give an event a new name, start up a new event to go with it, please.
    Thank you.

I think "Pioneer" is a wonderful word to honor our ancestors who sacrificed so much to build the city and raise the families that still so proudly live there!

Then what would we call our Pioneer Queen? Leave it all alone, there is no need to change everything. Let's focus our energy on bringing new events instead of trying to rebrand what already works.
