I love--LOVE--how the shawl shows up in the first photo. Your daughter (Mary?) is modeling it, but the focus (so to speak) is not on her. Perfect! The hoop in that photo is tilted forward and can't be easily read, so it's very distracting. The hoop does add to the photo--but in the second one it overwhelms the photo. I wouldn't know what I was supposed to be looking at.
My lame suggestion: Retake with her in exactly the same position and hold the hoop tilted back a little so it's clear.
