Having mixed thoughts on the matter, it's on one hand I'm relieved that Saturdays are the one day out of six that I won't have to drive two miles to the post office delivery facility to return the deceased elderly couple's mail that previously lived at this residence I purchased three ago, mail that my mailman won't take back even if/when I put it back in the curb delivery box and mark it "DECEASED NO LONGER HERE" (Do you think I should an exclamation mark or maybe some redline profanity?)
Then on the other hand I'm rather bummed out by ceased Saturday deliveries because a second federal cousin of the useless characteristics of the postal service, the Veterans Administration Healthcare Administration, will no longer permit me to count on a last-chance weekend arrival of pills and medicines that were already late for a Wednesday or Thursday's tageted delivery date still not here on Friday. ...But retired, I used to be a mail carrier myself, promoted to a route delivery map maker (aerial cartographer) working closely with postal delivery supervisors; so I can tell you right now what's going to happen: Saturday residential delivery cessation doesn't mean over-the-road and overnight mail shipment also ceases. No, no, no, no, no! This is just like your mail delivery person cutting a day's worth of deliveries that will be piled nearly ceiling high in front of his/her work station when he/she comes in to work on Monday where [f]it is going to hit the [s]han!
