    One word..... FIERO
Maybe its because I'm an 80s baby but I would take a Fiero GT (88' please) over this in a heartbeat, especially one with the fastback. When you compare the performance and cost of the two, this is CP all day. A Fiero GT would destroy it. Not to mention its parts are plentiful, cheap and you can easily drop in a small block or a 3800SC and just sh*t on this Fiat.

They have timing belts not chains and need to be replaced at intervals, in the 1300 engine were interference like many cars, 1500 were noninterference. Great design, great handling but need more hp to really perform, even as is, I love mine! I also own a Miata and prefer to drive the Fiat, yep the Miata out performs in most areas except the most important one: fun to drive. Miata is a blast, X is an orgy.

I had a couple of 128s in 1971 - 75. The first one didn't just rust, it BROKE IN HALF at the A-pillar. The second one threw a cam chain, that cost $$$ to fix, just a month before a strut mount rusted out. These were New England cars, but I'd counsel anyone who buys a '70s FIAT to reduce its exposure to air and water in all forms.

...or you could spend $3K less on a 1.8 Miata that outperforms this heap in every way (except styling).

Nice little car, but I think a more realistic figure would be around 5k.
