How about just a California State Tournament. Never mind South vs North. Just the top teams in the tournament regardless of being in the south or north...period!

the open division concept gluts the state tournament of to many marquee players and teams. i am from southern cal and was looking forward to seeing of the best at sacramento. now, this will be a diluted torny. we go every year but if i had refundable air and room reservations i would cancel and stay home.
my suggestion for the open div would be take the top two teams from north and south and play a 2 day torny at state.
