"MORE ENFORCEMENT WILL MAKE ME STOP"? Anyone who actually checked that answer, need their collar loosed up.

I also believe that if we all don't stop texting, it will lead to banning the use of any hand held device while driving.

I was foolish and was not aware until yesterday that texting at a stop light is also illegal. Maybe in the back of my mind, I knew it was, but hoped it was not. Anyway, I will not do it anymore.

I don't believe these results. I think the people responding are the ones that recognize the danger of texting while driving, and want to express frustration. I'll admit I have texted while driving, and that's because it's easy to do with the new smart phones, and with voice command, you could even say that it's safer than talking on the phone. I also acknowledge it's unsafe to be distracted while driving, and having one hand on a phone is a bad idea, no matter what you are doing with the phone. ... I heard that the cops can give you a texting ticket while pulled over and stopped, and that's a draconian measure. It's perfectly reasonable and safe to pull over and text.

I do text & drive. But I'm with Johnston. So many people are doing it, I find it difficult to believe these results. Not sure why anyone would lie on a survey like this, but clearly many people are.

I don't text period. But isee at least 25 -30 drivers with a phone stuck to their ear or texting and swearving into another lane every day going to and from work. Sad.
