Hi Simon. Your comments are sadly a reflection of the experience a lot of my clients face. That is, prior to investing in some robust and enabling coaching. That said, it is also true from my own research that HR is rapidly becoming more and more transactional, forced not through their own lack of commitment, but by less and less resourcing. Perhaps the focus as to where the issue really lays is squarely at the boardroom table and the leadership (or lack of) that comes from the C level within the business.

Regrettably the Cover Letter is necessary. Also the people that see these letters and your CV's are generally the people who aren't the ones who really know about the business. HR just tick boxes against the criteria set. So all you have to do is lie enough to get to the next stage.
