I liked it, but also, I'm surprised so many liked it as well. I don't know if this is due to the fact that this movie proved that the scheme and Twilight character aren't changed after her coronation (infact, basically the movie is not other that a longer episode basically).

The part where the carpenter bursts through the wall as the little gremlins assemble outside the closet door sold it for me. Someone said I downloaded the wrong torrent but I think that person just upset that I liked it.

I liked it for what it is a special alternate realty to MLP:FIM. Don't think to hard about it and enjoy the possibilities. Plus the comic book art for EQG is cute and awesome. Though I'd say Celestia and Luna could use a better character design in their EQG counterparts. They need to look as cute and sexy as their MLP pony selves.

It was okay. Everything in the first half hour after Twilight goes through the mirror either bored me to tears or made me cringe, but after that, it was fairly enjoyable. I wouldn't go so far as to say an outright 'yes, I liked it', but it was alright, I'd probably watch it again.

    @Soroush Saberan

Cause its much easier to click on a button then write a comment. If you like something, you like it and most of the time don´t find a need to explain "why" you like it. You just do mostly and enjoy that you like it and thus feel good.
But if you don´t like something you most of the time need a reason "why" you didn´t liked it specificantly. And then you feel irritated by people who just say "i liked it" cause you can´t comprehend that they liked what you didn´t liked cause of this and that. And thus you write a reply or comment where you explain why you don´t like it which most people who liked it can´t understand cause they can´t fully comprehend how they couldn´t likeed what they liked and then some do a reply or another comment adn we get a circle of an neverending argument. XD

Honestly its just cause our brains are made the way that we remember negative stuff clearer than positive ones thus people who had a positive experience with EqG won´t do a comment cause they don´t need to, they had a good time. But people who had a negative experience have a need to explain why they couldn´t enjoy what others did enjoy as the negative experience weighs heavier on the human brain than the positive one.

Something like that. Also i think the whole negativity turned alot around since the first trailer/first mention of EqG. Now its pretty much 50:50 or 55:45 where before it was 10:90 or 5:95 in terms of positivity:negativity.^_^

How come in the poll, most people say "yes" but in the comments, most people say either "sorta" or "no"?

  • Smilley - 11 years ago

It was... good. Remember the first time you came across MLP? The low expectations, the "WTH will I be watching" attitude? And then the pleasant surprise that not only did the show not suck, but actually entertain?
Frankly, neither the revelation nor the quality of EQG blew me away quite like the opening two-parter did, but it's still better than the premise of taking your beloved characters to a stereotype human highschool setting would imply.
Yeah, it was fanservice-y, but not even that to the extent they could have dragged it. You had Photo Finish, Vinyl Scratch and Trixie, but not the flower trio, Bonbon or Lyra (they clearly missed a joke there). And not even the romance subplot that was strongly hinted in the trailer was all that cliche and sappy as it could have been.
Daniel Ingram did a good job on the songs - 4 unique songs and a remixed opening theme -, as was expected. "Helping Twilight win the crown" is obviously the centerpiece, but the other songs are good as well; though I really hoped they'd finally use the extended opening that's been floating around since before Season 3. Meh, maybe in S4. I mean they will have to overhaul the opening for that one, right? But I digress.
I'll get a bit spoiler-y from here on out, just so you be warned.
Though while we're on the topic of S4, I'd like a word on the scenes taking place in Equestria. I don't know if it was a conscious decision, but the writers did address a few points about the characters and setting to bridge S3 and S4:
    1) Twilight is a princess for good. No big surprise there.
    2) She won't run around in her coronation outfit with her special hairstyle from now on.
    3) Her personality didn't change. And she is pretty self-conscious about the powers and responsibilities of being a princess. Thank Celestia for that.
    4) All her friends are supportive of her, even after the initial coronation rush is over.
    5) All princesses have gathered in the Crystal Empire. The whole plothook would have worked with them in Canterlot, without the need to explain the mirror being there. Maybe the reason for that will come up in S4.

Now for a few final thoughts that came to mind while watching:
    - I can't be the only one watching the scene of Twilight trying to sleep and thinking "Heh-heh! Wingboner. Man, am I immature..."
    - Principal Celestia knows more than she lets on. She lets a girl she's never seen before nor had any form of transfer documents take part in the Fall Formal princess elections. Her speech after Sunset Shimmer's defeat seems to imply that as well.
    - Even discounting the fact that she was cunning enough to climb the social ladder in the school despite being an Alpha B****, where did Sunset Shimmer live? Where does she get money from? How come noone, in all these years, questioned that she has no legal guardians? Twilight might get away with bunking in the library for a night or two, but Sunset has been around for over 8 years (100 "moons"/months).
    - An army of brainwashed teenagers to conquer Equestria? Really? I mean for all we've seen the Royal Guard isn't worth the armor they are wearing, but it's still just a few score teenagers.
    - How come any villian ever can always use magical artifacts belonging to the heroes to much greater extent?
    - The girls transforming was probably the most toyetic moment in the whole Gen4, and we had an entire episode devoted to the Canterlot Express.
    - The girls forming a heart when they fired off the Friendship Rainbow? Pure sap, but it worked.

I did not like it, at first i acutally hated it. It's totally needless, and it wasn't very good. But on the second run i enjoyed it. Still 6,5/10 at best.

  • onethought - 11 years ago

It wasn't great, but it was better than no ponies.

    This poll needs more choices!

  • Hazenkain - 11 years ago

See there's a problem here, because I did kinda liked it, but not in full, so there is a lack of choice in this poll, I really wouldn't want to give anyone related to the creation of Equestria Girls the idea that I "loved it" so they can make plans on expanding on it and make a series or something out of it, because I would really dislike that, I would very much appreciate if they sticked to ponies; but oh well it's already too late to be complaining about this.

  • Jes - 11 years ago

I was looking forward to seeing the movie so much! When it was announced in my country, I was ecstatic. I toted my best friend, a mild fan, and was so thrilled when it started that I could hardly sit still. When it finished though, I found it quite lacklustre (especially the villain). I'm not hating on it, and I hope nobody hates me - I just was very disappointed. Just an opinion! So I had to answer 'no'.

  • Koops - 11 years ago

I went in kinda skeptical but figured since it was in town, I'd go. I actually liked it and I really enjoyed Daniel Ingram's songs he had in it. It was a very fun movie, and I'll probably pick it up on Bluray just to have it. Of course, a few things felt a little off, but all in all, I enjoyed it very much!

  • kelzae - 11 years ago

I do not want to live in this world anymore.

  • moonlightavenger - 11 years ago

People like this piece of crap because it's "cool" to like this piece of crap.
If not for this it is because they really do like it! But I challenge them to tell me that a REAL MLP-FIM wouldn't be better.

  • Disappointed - 11 years ago

What the dip, where did all the "meh" people go? Did they jump ship to the like it side? Or is someone spamming the like votes to make it seem like a good move by daddy Hasbro?

  • Jlfuffy - 11 years ago

    It was meh.

  • Soroush Saberan - 11 years ago

In my opinion, if this movie had the exact same story, but was not MLP related at all, most of you guys wouldn't have liked it. It wasn't terrible, but it was pretty cliche. For example, *warning: spoilers* all twilight had to do to convince everyone to vote for her was sing in the cafeteria with her friends. There was barely any difficulty in convincing everyone. Also, when Sunset Shimmer turned into a dragon thing, all they had to do was shoot a giant rainbow beam at her with their power of friendship... and then Sunset Shimmer started crying. It was pretty cliche in my opinion. But that's just my opinion. I'm completely fine if other people disagree with me.

...In other news, Polldaddy apparently doesn't recognize the "Enter" key. ò_ó HOERS NOT MUNKY, DAMMIT!

  • TexasUberAlles - 11 years ago

    HELL NO, I WON'T GO

    HOERS NOT MUNKY

  • VIcar - 11 years ago

    Needs a meh/neutral answer.

  • Grey Acumane - 11 years ago

One thing I feel needs to be made clear is that while I enjoyed the movie for its execution, and for Twilight, and basically anything that had to do with PONY, everything that had to do with "high school stuff" I just hated. Especially with the idea of the movie being used as a pilot for an actual series FOCUSING on the high school, oh my god, I STILL want to burn it with fire.

  • Dogman15 - 11 years ago

No option for "Kind of" or "sorta"?

  • aponymous - 11 years ago

inb4 "vocal minority lolololol" and other such insults

  • inDerpxar - 11 years ago

Fluttershy is best human. Just sayin'. Oh, and the movie was tops. I drove ~130 miles (one way) to see it; totally worth it.

  • Micro Spear - 11 years ago

The /) ^3^ (\ Rainbow Dash does near the end made want to die. And the segments where you can see Derpy holding a muffin (cafeteria song scene and credits) made me want to gulp down bleach. The rest of it, I still didn't like. I will say I was surprised that they had PhotoFinish and Trixie in it. Usually, I just expect them to shove all the popular background characters in there, but they actually decided to use some one-shot characters too.

  • justthedoctor - 11 years ago

I'm planning on watching it tonight. Hopefully it's good. I trust DHX.

  • Crelyous - 11 years ago

I actually liked it. At first I thought 'man, Hasbro is screwing things up, aren't they?' But I still decided to watch it, since you can't judge something just like that. Once I managed to see it, my thoughts about this movie were positive, since it managed to bring me a cheerful smile. So yeah, I liked the movie.

  • Dirty Blue - 11 years ago

    Needs an "Ehhh..." option

  • Cashlin - 11 years ago

This is clearly a showing of the vocal minority.

  • Groudon199 - 11 years ago

When I first heard about it and saw the character designs, I was curious. When they were changed to anthro, I started hating it. It got to the point where one more negative change would cause me to pass on watching it anywhere. Once the first trailer was released and it was back to the human designs, my interest level was higher than ever, and I was pissed that all marketing for the movie used a design that doesn't even get used in the movie.

I saw the movie the first day it was playing at a nearby theater (which in this case is 45 minutes away), and I really liked it. Although now, I'm even more confused why all promotional material and the toys use a design that only shows up in the last 5 minutes of the movie. I've compared it to putting Super Sonic on the boxart for a Sonic the Hedgehog game.

  • LordTormoku - 11 years ago

I gave it a chance, but it was a stereotypic predictable failure. I'm concerned because it really reminded me to Barbie and Monster high.

  • Ganondox - 11 years ago

I'm sure I'd be entertained by it while watching it, but I'd still hate it anyway and recognize it as not being a "good movie".

  • Shorogan - 11 years ago

The first time I heard of this movie, I was like 'WTF? that's soooo terrible!'.
Watched it now and I just love it!

  • Chad - 11 years ago

I liked it. It wasn't great, it doesn't deserve a reward, but it was enjoyable enough and could have been much, much worse. Feels more like a goofy spin-off episode than a movie.

  • Frith - 11 years ago

I've seen it three times at the movies (all three times that it was screened near me) and I'd go again if it played again.
