Should automatic bids to the NCAA Division I playoffs be given to the regular-season conference champion or tournament winner?
Give it to the regular-season champ. There were 13 No. 1 seeds in conferences this year who didn't win their conference tournament and were not invited to NCAA Regionals.
If the regular-season conference champion doesn't do well in the conference tournament, too bad. The tournament winner deserves the automatic bid.
The NCAA Division I Baseball Committee should require conferences to give the automatic bid to regular-season champs. Why play for months in conferences if it doesn't matter?
Conferences should dictate whether the regular-season champ or tournament winner receives the automatic bid.
