Does your social care employer encourage you to use social media?

These results are shocking. I work for a private provider and thankfully they have embraced social media and provide staff with training on how to use it effectively. We have managed to safeguard a number of young people simply by having staff registered work profiles and keeping an eye on the social media activity. Its all done with the complete consensus and agreement of the young people we support, but it means we are better able to monitor the activity of others who post concerning messages. I find it utterly shocking that the majority of councils bar the use of facebook and twitter etc. Its time to keep up with the times. In a world where vulnerable children and adults live half their lives on line we are failing them if we do not set up strategies for supporting them effectively.
