I am thoroughly disgusted and disappointed that spelling would be removed from any curriculum. Spelling, vocabulary, defining words, being able to use them and understand there use are ESSENTIAL in a well rounded "good" education. I am not a real supporter of the Common Core Standards, however, I had been seeing the ESL as a much more positive portion of it then the math. I will not change my feelings on the fact that cursive handwriting is also essential in a well rounded education. If, in fact our school system discontinues using spelling and all the necessary entities of spelling.
