Honestly, fuck fannon. Shit like a human obsessed LyraXBonbon, Derpy mailmare muffins X Doctor whooves, "Wub A DUB UDB MUTGHAFUKAS" Vinyl X octavia. I find all that shit unbearable. Especially since it's already so redundant and overused that it's pretty much the only things these characters are known for nowadays.
But what REALLY pisses me off, is how often I see these fucking characters get all the attention, NOT JUST in the fandum, but also anything MLP related. Like in the merchandise department, I mean, how often do you see characters that aren't popular background ponies (Excluding main characters, of course.)?
In the comics, how many "Variant" covers do we have for popular background ponies, as opposed to side-characters, or one-shot characters? And all this attention is because they pander to the lowest common denominator: Bronies who cannot, CAN NOT, get enough of this garbage.

Having said that Gamer Luna, Trollestia, Human obsessed Lyra and Muffin loving Derpy are things that i just don't like, they're just not interesting as fanon concepts to me.
Lyra and Derpy get way overused to the point where that is literally the only thing they're known for and subsequently have become predictable and boring (which isn't to say i don't like them as characters, i like them both but i like the interpretations that don't include muffins or humans)
Gamer Luna is just silly, because i have no idea where it came from it seems almost like someone thought "Luna is the Priestess of the night, hardcore gamers play video games throughout the night, therefore gamer luna" To me it doesn't have any reason to be a thing. Trollestia is more understandable since we see that Celestia has a sense of humour, but i just don't find it all that interesting.
Now that i think about it most fanon concepts (at least the popular ones) are rather shallow and uninteresting, i guess i'd change my answer, i don't want any more fanon in the show (unless they take the fanon concepts that aren't as popular but they wouldn't do that)

I hate it when fan fiction squirms its way into the show. Nothing's more satisfying seeing the writers of My Little Pony come up with their own stuff and displaying their creativeness. Fan fiction is just inaccurate and should be distance far away as possible from any official story line.

What degree of "Gamer Luna" are we even talking here? If it's games in general, then it's technically already canon (the games she plays in "Luna Eclipsed").
In any case, I guess I don't really care either way. We already saw arcade games in "Hearts & Hooves Day", so it wouldn't be much of a stretch to see her playing one at some point - I'd be fine with that. I'd also be fine if nothing of the sort ever happened. Not an important issue to me.

I have a feeling the only people who want fanon in this show have recently become bronies. For a person who was initially a season 1 viewer, I feel this show has really lost focus on what it's supposed to be. The jokes are too wacky, the characters are too exaggerated, and the plots hold almost no more educational value. I still enjoy watching it, but it makes me cringe at times because this is not the same cartoon I became interested in. The cheesiness is a good thing. I don't want this show trying too hard to appeal largely. They just need to tone down some of the gags and keep characters' personalities more grounded and rooted so we can actually relate.
As for fanon being in the FiM, ha. It's already dangerously close to becoming that and it's skewing the show in the wrong direction. It's great for the promotional material but it's not for the actual cartoon. I wish I could hear your responses but I'm not sure if replies are possible on here, so if you want to message me I go by the same name everywhere.

Why does anyone think it HAS to be video games. (which is canon to MLP since season 2.) Doesn't really have to be a tech based game? It can easily be normal games like horseshoe throwing contest or pumpkin launching! When someone says "Gamer Luna" I think more of "Really Competitive Luna"

I'd love for canon Luna to be Gamer Luna, but it should be super minor. Like, a panning shot of her room shows a few game systems, or she makes a small comment about finishing a backlog. It couldn't be the focal point of her personality, just something small about it. Notice how little Rainbow Dash speaks about reading? Even less than that.
