There isn't any meetups near me. :(
JR - 11 years ago
There's a quite active meetup group in my area, but I'm about twice the age of everyone else so the one time I went it felt weird. Didn't go back.
Scribbsie - 11 years ago
Meets have been my addiction. Getting to cities with meetup groups is pretty easy for me and my local one isn't that much to get either.
anonymous - 11 years ago
@Air Jeez I wonder what fandom it could have been.
Adam Burt - 11 years ago
I'm not a people's person, and not much into going out. But like to meet bronies and Pegasisters.
UnF - 11 years ago
@Wendy Domino: Does this Houston group have a website or FB page or something? It's too far of a drive for me to just check in randomly, but I'd really like to attend.
Air - 11 years ago
I've been to a fandom-based meetup before, though not a pony one. Although, there were multiple bronies there.
Wendy Domino - 11 years ago
I recently started hanging out with the Houston bronies a few months ago. I love it. They have monthly meetings at the Rainbow Teahouse on West road. Bronies in Houston are very friendly people and I am learning how to put those friendship lessons into practice and how to cosplay at the same time. :) Just getting out and hanging out with these smart, talented, and friendly people has given me a major mood and self esteem boost.

Yup. Been to many already. The key thing to have a good time there (just like on pretty much any kind of social event) is to not sit quietly in the corner, looking at everyone with fear. You're not an invader there, you're not unwanted. Don't just sit there. Speak up, say something about yourself.
Yes, they're very fun (based in FL here), I just don't get to go often thanks to transportation.

How ´bout : Yes but I´m not able to go to them because I´m a minor and there aren't any near me?
Graem - 11 years ago
Other. I'd like to but I've been way too creeped out by the numerous bronies I've met so far in real life that I don't think the drive to Toronto would be justified. Money doesn't grow on trees.

Other: sadly the closest one is an atlantic ocean away, but maby if i happens to visit the us once...
lordelliott - 11 years ago
@HalflingPony Nah, I'm on the Gulf Coast. :(
Nargh - 11 years ago
I don't go to meet ups, I feel I wouldn't fit in because I don't shop for all my clothes exclusively at HOT TOPIC.
Rockpath5 - 11 years ago
More people are not interested than go to them. That's pretty funny. There is a group that meets on my campus, but I've never gone to a meet up. I can't convince myself to go to the animals rights group things, and I care a lot more about that than a cartoon.
Insum - 11 years ago
Wow, so many people would like to try. Set your mind to zero and go for it! Meet ups are great, just ignore the overly obnoxious people and find the people you resonate with. I've met tons of great people, but also some bad ones and not every meet up was awesome. Even then, most meet-ups are great, as long as you don't go "wow you like MLP you are my friend" or stand in the corner the whole time. I strongly encourage anyone who has one or two bad experiences with meet ups to either give it another shot or seek a meet up elsewhere. Seriously, in the end, most of these are worth it.
Kroama - 11 years ago
Went to one once not too long ago, it wasn't that bad of an experience for me. We played pony monopoly... but if not for something to keep my focus like a game i can't imagine they would go very well.
Applejack - 11 years ago
Tried a brony meetup once. Seriously had a disappointing time. Very 'in-group' sort of folks who gossiped about convention and fandom drama. Won't ever go to another one.
Swordkirby - 11 years ago
Been wanting to try out a meet up in New Jersey. But none of those pop up
@lordelliott It sounds like we're both in the exact same boat, then. You're not in Maine are you? We could start our own Facebook-free meetup group. ;)
badonkadonk - 11 years ago
i hang out with some of my brony friends at school but dont know of any meetup groups in my area
If you count Bronycon 2012, I've been to two. Bronies are few and far between here and I don't do Facebook.
Hikarinotori - 11 years ago
I'd love to meetup with fellow Pony fans, but I don't know of any groups near where I live.
Midnight Aperture - 11 years ago
I started the group where I live and we've been holding monthly meets with little side-adventures for nearly 2 years now!! :D
lordelliott - 11 years ago
The only group I know of near me likes to use Facebook to meet which would require me to publicly join their group or make a new profile just for joining. I don't feel like doing either. :(
SHADOWtheHEJHOG - 11 years ago
Not only to I go to them but I am actually co-leader of the CR Bronies. :)
Meetups are the best way to make friends and meet other Bronies. If you happen to live in Iowa near Cedar Rapids, come on by or check out our Facebook page.
Acro - 11 years ago
I saw Equestria Girls in theaters, and we're /working/ on setting up a highschool-wide brony club (sidenote; squee). Nearly everybrony I know is /trying/ to set something or another up. Sadly, life is kinda a mule about stuff like "fun".
It's yes for me, but only barely at this point. We started with a Meetup group but the cost of maintaining it and free alternatives led to us shutting it down. I'm now maintaining a G+ group for us since most of us (myself included) have some kind of FaceBook phobia.
Deadpool Dash - 11 years ago
My group has one every week.
TheLastGuardsPony - 11 years ago
I'd love to. But I live in a very brony free area and all the big meetups are too far for me when I have some free time.
John Quincy Adams - 11 years ago
Been to a whole bunch of meetups, yes.
Mister Tulip - 11 years ago
Nope. I'm interested in doing it at some point, but I'm too lazy to learn to drive, which seriously impedes my ability to go to meetups which would be in reach for others in my region.
