I understand a back track to make Vocals have a full sound, this is used in all recording studios. When you charge people for a live performance, that is what you should deliver. Every other profession has to deliver what they promised so should artists.
Absolutely Not! They must give a live performance vocally. That's what people are paying for after all. It's dishonest to say the least.

Why would I then paĆ½ 650 for a ticket where I could pay 200 bucks for a dvd?

I think it's ridiculous! These so called artists get paid a fortune for live performances, more than they make for CD's and the tickets are hardly cheap. We don't pay just to look at them, we want to hear them sing, if they cant they should choose another career. Some artists can do it without lip-syncing, I think its robbing us if they do this. Ticket prices should then reflect the lack of performance!
